WBA 12-12-ss not taking bills

I have a WBA -121-ss it all powers up and does its thing.  when i put a dollar in it will take it and hold it for about 2 sec then sends it back out. any idea what needs to be done.

Did the validator work and then it didn't work anymore?  Or has it never worked?  There are rubber gaskets that provide the friction that pull the bill in, if these gaskets get dried up (which they do over time), they no longer grip the bill well enough causing read errors.  You might want to check that and also clean all the sensors on the bill head with a wet lint free cloth.  If none of these things fix it, you may need to have the head re-calibrated.

Also looking at your post, you say it holds the bills for a couple of seconds and then it spits it out?  Usually that means the bill credit limit has been reached and thus the machine is rejecting the bill, and not the validator.  Also check the dip switches on the side of the validator, they should all be in the off position.

I had a Konami do that same exact thing with the same bill validator. My Konami had a BV diagnostic mode so I put it in that, put a bill in and it says something like magnetic read error. I swapped it with another BV and it eliminated the issue. But it did the same thing took the bill, showed now system errors, and then kicked it right back out.

I got it to take a 20 but it takes a few times and it will take it.  I dont now if i need to get someone to plug it up and fix whatever is wrong with it.  Because i do not have the cables or software to hook it to my computer

If it’s accepting $20 it’s working for your machine. I would lean towards a part in your bill val being dirty.

I would remove the head off and carefully clean the sensors/optics with lens cleaner or even just soapy water, dry throughly and reassemble it. It gets dirty in there after a jillion bills have gone through.
There's a lot of subjects here and on the old ".net" site. If you do a google search with the terms "WBA lens cleaning newlifegames," you will get some results to learn a little more. Otherwise when I get home I can take one apart and post some pictures.
It's really not hard to do. Don't use alcohol or you'll ruin the lenses.
