Igt I game stinkin rich slot crt monitor fades to black randomly

Hi all the monitor will darken and fade until totally black.. this has happened while playing and while the machine is just sitting idle.  When it's black you can still hear it playing.. it seems to come back on after I press random buttons or the set button on the mpu. 
Any ideas?

Usually that’s a sign of a bad CRT. They tend to blackout slowly, then are gone. What model chassis is powering your CRT? You could try contacting Alan at K-Lar. I know he has some used monitors at there shop.

I was afraid of that... Is it something that can be repaired?  Do people still work in these?

I’m 98% sure that you need a different crt. I was curious to what chassis was powering that crt? Ceronic chassis can usually be repaired. Like I said to contact Alan ar K-Lar to see if he could help you with a replacement CRT monitor. The only other solution is to convert to a newer style LCD monitor, but finding a good used one is hard and new ones cost over $500.00...
