It is normal for the reel bulbs to glow dimly on a S2000.

Thanks for posting pics. Your first one shows a controller board with only a reel harness connected. Where's the power connector that goes to the top left? It should be in your machine nearby, possibly zip tied to other wires. Also the I/O harness plugs into the lower left side.

Here's a pic. Nothing in the top box has anything to do with it.

Are you using the correct base chip for the game or are you using SB10000 with the SS reel chip?  I'm currently using Double Diamond Deluxe with backlit reels.

To be honest I haven't seen a plain double diamond machine in a while, so I don't know if IGT ever made a backlit base chip for it. All the triple diamond slots I've seen have always had the sparkly reel strips, although I do know the non sparkly strips exist, just not sure if they are backlit type or not.  As far as double/triple diamond,  I played that at a casino not too long ago and I don't remember if they were backlit, if I had to say, I would say they were not.

The base chip is the one that would have the support for the backlit reels.  Maybe someone else who has a different version of the SB chip can provide a definite answer on double diamond.

Yes, I had the same SB/SGs in mine.  My machine already had the backlit reels installed when I got it.  Is your backlit controller connected correctly?

They are connected correctly it's just that when the machine boots up they stay dim when I do the diagnostic lamp test they don't do anything so maybe I am thinking maybe just does not support backlight reels maybe not this version chip in this machine
Do you use the same cabinet card as I do
Because you're double diamonds has the round cabinet I have the 16 in cabinetdoes your cabinet card use the same part number

I think you can go into the settings and perform a test for the reel lights no?

SG363

4.10 Reel Lamps Test

This page is available from only the Operator Menu.

It allows the operator to test the lamp operation on the back lit reels.

oh...you tried...oh well...I just saw you wrote it in Reply #7. sorry

I am not sure what version I'm using because it has faded away I cannot see the numbers so I'm not absolutely sure could that be the reason why my backlight reels are not working

Probably doesn't matter anyways, the Version has more to do with what VFD displays anyhow.

I looked at your pictures closely....your backlight harnesses look okay from the outside.
However, I highly suspect a possible bad ground pin in that harness that runs up to the reel lights.
Think about it, a ground wire connects that whole backlighting scheme...if broken somehow, no backlights would work.
I'd be checking both ends for continuity from one end to the other end to see if there's a break somewhere in that harness only.
I'm guessing you know how to use a multi-meter for continuity?
If not, I can help.

I have an s2000 with three back lite reels too.
But nothing's wrong with them.

Give me a few minutes to install a pair of SG363's and an SB100054 with a Version chip like Tilt's.

okay...I just installed SB100054, SG363's and VS011NX5 in my machine and the back lights worked perfectly.

I will try it with the other Version chip (The ever popular VS011GX1) right now to see if it DOESN'T work okay?

I'm trying to rule out your Version chip since we don't know what it is.
