IGT I/O Board Question
« on: February 04, 2020, 08:29:31 AM »
I have an IGT S2000 5 reel 9 line Cleopatra that I can't seem to get all of the buttons to work. I was wondering which I/O board controls the button panel. There are 3 I/O's in this game, two on the door and one mounted on the CPU cage. Thanks.

I swapped out both I/O's with known good ones and still can only get 3 of the 10 buttons to work. I'll keep looking.

You need 802 I/O for double row

I'm still going nuts trying to figure this problem out.I have a 801 I/O on the inside of the door, a 802 I/O on the outside of the door, and a 200 I/O on the mpu cage. I can only get a few of the buttons to work. I'm thinking maybe the two door I/O's are in the wrong place? Maybe some one can help. Thanks

The 801's are for the single row button decks...that's why they're not all working.
You cannot have two different 800 series I/O cards.....must be alike.
Because you have double row buttons, you need two 802 I/O cards on the door.

The 200 I/O on the cage is for back lit reels & needs the harness that goes up to the controller board on the back wall behind the reels in order for the reels to light up on win symbols.

Not totally true.
I have two row button machines with one of each 801 and 802. I also have two row button decks with two 802s. Position is critical try swapping door card positions.

Cool! I learn something new every day! :cool_thumb_up:
I'm surprised you can use an 801 on a two row button deck? :o
Which side is the 801 placed on the door?  :scratch-head_3:

I'll have to check when I get home depending on how the harness is routed could change which side of the door the card goes.

I was thinking of throwing in an 801 in my dbl row S2000 but I don't want to burn out an I/O.

I always have the Molex connector on the hopper side 802 I/O going to the MPU.
The other Molex connector on the reel glass side 802 I/O goes to the VFD display panel.

Shouldn't hurt the I/O card trying an 801 card.

I'll try it on the VF display connector and see what happens...lol
Stay tuned!  :rotfl:

****Update***
I verified that it's okay to have the 801 I/O on the belly glass side but...
it's important to have an 802 I/O on the hopper side going back to the MPU in order for all the ten buttons to light up.

double check your wiring also,  trace the wiring harness from the cabinet to where it connects, then follow it through to the next component. something could be crossed??  don't have a machine to compare , perhaps someone could tell you the path of all the cables as they interconnect with the reel display.

The setup pictured works. It should have a 802 on both sides of the door panel although I have used a 801 on the belly glass side in a 3 reel , 9L. It has nothing to do with the VFD. I think Bunker meant to say the 9L LCD credit display.

Yes..you're right RB...I have the belly glass side 801 I/O running straight up into the 9L display.
I agree with you however in that both I/O's should have the same number.
I just hate mixing them up....lol

I was just about to concede but I confirmed that I have a 5 reel, Reel Touch  Denver Duck that operates with both card numbers. The 801 I/O is on the inside of the door at 45 degrees and the 802 is on the outside.
All of my other 5 reel machines have two 802s.
Not sure if the bets per line display makes a difference because the Duck does not have one.

I also have a Cleo like yours and it had two 802s. I replaced the back card with an 801 and it works just fine that way also. So here are my thoughts try unplugging the bets per line lcd unit and see if the problem goes away. If it does that LCD board is probably bad. If that doesn't work you need to carefully inspect the wiring as Jim stated.

No luck. I exchanged every board on the door and even Ram cleared and Key chipped. Same problem? Checked the harness to the back plane.  :pull_hair:

Are the buttons lighting up? Have you considered the fact that you might just have some worn out button switches or they may not be fully seated to make proper contact when button is depressed?
