Help! - IGT S2000 Cleopatra

Hello, First if this is in the wrong location please let me know!


I'm trying to help my parents troubleshoot their IGT S2000, Cleopatra $.05, 5 Reel Machine.  This machine was bought at an auction and was working fine up until a couple of months ago.  We are now getting to errors a DOOR OPEN MB error, and a Meter Disconnected error.  The DOOR OPEN MB I was assuming was a Money Box error, however I replaced it with a known good money box and it was still not working.  The Meter Disconnected error is new.


I have pictures below of the machine and the two error screens, I also have the ability to get any other photos that might work.  Looking for any advice or to at least be pointed in the right direction. 


Also if anyone does service or repairs in the greater Northern Virginia area that would be helpful as well, as we have a few machines we would like to have some preventative maintenance on.

with the power off, pull out the cpu board, located on the left side of machine, enclosed in a metal housing,  look at the green varta battery on the board, if there is a bluish/green crud round the battery area you may have a defective cpu board.  The battery acid eats the traces around that area and causes the problem you are having.   take a picture of the board and post.

Sounds like you my have some board damage from a leaking battery.  Or the coin battery may be dead.
Please take a picture of the MPU board. (The one in the metal tray) if there is still a green battery on the board take a picture of that area and see if there is damage from battery leakage.
Also check the voltage on the round coin battery.

Attached are the photos and it looks like we see the corrosion you were mentioning. 


Is it time for a new board or is it possible to add a new battery?   Dad says he's handy with a soldering iron but I'm not so sure lol.

You don't need the replace that battery, you can just remove it.  Remove it and try cleaning the area to see if you can get rid of the corrosion, but you most likely have trace damage which can be very difficult to fix since you don't know how deep the corrosion has gotten.  If that's the case, you will need to get a working MPU.  They are not that expensive and are easy to find.

some times the board can be repaired, as far as your other machines are concerned, I see in the picture you have a roundtop IGT S-2000, most all use the same board and have the same results,  check your other machines and see if that process has started, remove that battery on all the others asap.  if any crud is visible, clean with a vinegar solution of 50/50 with water, then rinse thoroughly, you can hold the board under the facet and rinse it, let dry overnight before installing.  You can send the board to me to see if it can be repaired, no guarantees, but we can try, costs you 15.05 to send it USPS medium flat rate box.
