IGT S+ Flashing Front Display
« on: March 21, 2020, 09:36:34 AM »
Hello before I post I try to find my problem but since I couldn't I'm gonna ask. Thanks in advance.
When I turn on my S+ the front display is flashing random numbers very quickly in the WINNER PAID, CREDITS, & COINS PLAYED. Has anyone else encounter this? My battery is good. The reels stiffen as they should too.  Any ideals?

I would start by checking for any stray coins that might be shorting something out. Check for any loose connections while your at it.  Check power supply cable to motherboard for any burn marks also.

Well I tried and found some loose ground connections. And it's still flashing random numbers. Could in be the motherboard or the power supply? I know the mainboard is good I tried it in another s+ and it works fine.

Can you insert a coin and spin the wheels ?
I am thinking that the cable that feeds the displays has developed a short or the connector has semi-come loose.

Does it have the same behavior with the door open ?

Thanks for responding. No it will not do anything when dropping a coin and it has the same behaviour with the door open or closed. I can't even get it to do anything when pressing the white button or turning the jackpot reset.   :duh:

First, undo the two connectors to the problem display panel and drop a coin thru with the door closed.
Let us know if the coin just drops to the coin tray, to the hopper, or drop hole.

If it still doesn't accept a coin, swap the unhooked problem display panel to the known good cabinet and see if the problem follows the display.
Be careful not to short out any of the solder joints on the back of the problem display against the door metal when the power is turned back on for the test and report back with your results here.
I'm confident we'll figure this out.

Double check and make sure all the connectors on the motherboard are going to the right place, compare them to the working machine.

Yes I had another display. As soon as I replaced it, it worked.
