IGT S plus spinning reels and no display upon power up
« on: October 27, 2021, 06:24:28 PM »
This is my Double Diamond I purchased that had the battery exploded and wasn’t doing anything upon power up except blowing the lower 6 amp fuse. I took out the MPU, Motherboard and power supply and cleaned everything thing up the best I could do. I put it all back together, replaced the fuse and powered it up. The fuse is holding now but all it does is light the lights and spinning of the reels, no display or candle or nothing. I thought I would take a chance to see if it would possibly work after cleaning but now it seems like the MPU and Motherboard are definitely ruined. I have the other machine I purchased a Red, White and Blue working great and been playing it quite often for about a week. I don’t want to take a chance on ruining that one but I was thinking about swapping out the MPU just to see if it would work or not. Otherwise I’ll probably just try to find a replacement MPU and Motherboard.

I’ve tried several times to attach an iPad video but no matter what size it does not take it.

Yes you can try swapping out the MPU to see if you get a display and go from there
You are lucky you have another one
Most likely it is the mpu

Check the power cable. Swap that 1st to see if it powers up.

Tony

You can fix almost any electronic device by replacing the aluminum electrolytic capacitors.

Ok, I checked the power cable and all of the voltages seem to be close to what’s required at the Motherboard connection. I then swapped out the MPU, the reels stopped spinning and seem to be locked with power going to them but there is still no display and no lights on the candle. So something changed with the MPU swap but with the battery exploded on the original MPU and Motherboard I suspect the Motherboard is damaged as well. I might pull out the Motherboard again and get a closer look at any damage. I may swap out the Motherboard from my working machine, I just don’t want to damage it, I know Jim at Midwest Slots said he has these replacements but it would be nice to know for sure that this would fix it.
