Converting back to coin-in, a physical problem!
« on: March 18, 2014, 09:57:08 AM »
Okay I got all the goodies to change my Bally GM back to coin-in. The big problem is: the plate where the CC mounts does not have the opening for the chute, to guide the quarter in the hopper. Instead, the accepted quarter drops straight down to the overflow. The best way is to just look at my posted pictures. I think that entire plate was either replaced...OR this thing my never have had a hopper, but it was made in 2001 so I'd think it was "hopperized" at one time.
I have other issues...machine is not recognizing the hopper or the CC but I think this is an eprom issue that I'll address later.
It's obvious I need a different plate so I guess this is sort of a WTB post but I'm also curious to get more information on this. I'm also thinking this machine just may have been built from multiple machines just to sell as a "no pay" machine for a consumer.
In the picture, the red stick is just above the plate, that should have a nice square hole in it for the chute... I think!

Your door panel is different than ones we have. I've attached the pic of a coin-in door. Your missing a spot for one of the chutes at the top! If you could, could you snap a pic of the entire inner door panel, or just compare yours to our pic to know if that's the one you need anyway? I think everything's the same, but maybe I'm not seeing something.  :sherlock:

Here's the entire panel. While I'm here... see those two loose plugs in the right? I'm assuming they go in the belly door switch just in front, but which tabs?
And...there a loose plug on the left upper side that has no home...

Oh...just noticed my reputation power is no longer zero...yeah!!!  :applause:

More and more, I'm thinking my machine must have been made from parts... especially since the holes for the hopper plug had never been threaded and with this oddball door plate.

I don't necessarily think the machine was built from parts, it was just Coinless. Not too uncommon. I wonder if its same model as our games? Anyway, let me see if Darrell will pull a door panel off, as I think that will fix you up? Since he has the one GM (at least) that will be parted out anyway.

I will ask him about those 2 plugs as well.

I'm in the same boat as you are.  I'm converting a tournament game back to a coin out game.  I got the hopper and a new inner door panel.  The panel I received is to wide for a 7200 and the vendor suggested I just recut the panel.  I don't think I can do that with the restraints of the door, at least that would be a last ditch effort.  You'll notice there is a solonoid on the panel which changes the coin shute from hopper to the funnel when the hopper is full.  You need this part to have it work properly as well at the shutes on the back of the panel that direct the coins.

Well I hope you can work it out on your machine too. I'm thinking I should have just bought a Game King instead... I've done two conversions on my IGT's and both were pieces of cake. This is rapidly becoming a pain in the butt.  >:(

I just sent my main board out for 2 new main chips.  I think because this was originally set up as a tournament game they used different main chips that don't recognize the hopper.  I had to add the coin slot as it would only take paper money when I got it.  I'll let you know if this fixes it.

Seems Bally Game Makers are a dying topic!
I am struggling to get mine to recognize the hopper. Even though I've done multiple clears with the proper chip, it's still telling me I have a printer.
I did some research and found the topic of tournament model chips and it appears they are only for the individual games. In other words, the machine is the same...game chips are different and not main chips. Here is the link for the topic on the OLD NLG site, which I liked better!

A follow up on this topic:
My Game Maker was built as a coinless machine. It never had a hopper or any coin-in parts. I replaced the inner door panel with a coin-in type (thanks CV Slots for all parts!) and added a coin head, coin tray, CC and hopper. I actually had to thread the holes where the hopper track was mounted. They were there but with no threads! My clear issues was resolved and can be seen in the other thread.
This topic is resolved!  :applause:
