Bally Cinevision ?
« on: March 05, 2014, 04:55:35 PM »
Going to pick up one of these in the next couple of weeks.

Are these Alpha's?  What games run on this platform?

I've seen them before but not sure of what platform it is exactly.

Yes they are also known as Bally Alpha M9000.  There are specific game kits for them.

Cinevison machines will play just about any single screen Alpha game as long as the machine has a 1 gig CPU in it.
If it ain't broke don't mess with it.....

Would an American Original or Ms Clara T have the 1 gig cpu?

Those games run on a 512 meg CPU so the best way to tell is to just pull the CPU to see the label on the board.  Booting the machine up with also go through a RAM test and you can see the amount of memory on the screen.  A 512 meg CPU will play most of the games though, it's just slower to boot.

Cinevision are a sit down type game with a wide screen which is more horizontal than vertical.  Also there are cinareels-same but with smaller monitor and reels.  M-9000 is just usually a "19 inch viedo.   Pretty sure you can take a 512 and bump it up to a 1gig if you have the correct cpu.  For sure you can bump a 1gig to 2gig by adding memory stick--Makes it that much more faster.  Alpha's boot slow-- the 1gig boot time is a lot faster and 2-well even faster.  -You would want a 1gig for it's versatility in the future.  v-32 runs 1gig/2gig to give you a idea.  Dual viedo card is a plus also.

Do game screens stretch between the M9000 Square monitor vs the widescreen? Also, does putting a Cinevision game on a square monitor adjust and squish to a square monitor? Just curious when I pick up some new games.

I answered my own question. I just got Power Strike (widescreen title) and plays fine on a square monitor. The image is squashed tho. Still fun!
