s2000 enhanced running down main battery

ive got a 2000 enhanced. i replaced the coin battery.  it was near dead. a week later, i got a main battery low error. checked the battery it was down to 2.5v . tried a second one, , weeek later same deal. what would cause excessive draw on the battery? bad ram?

yes, bad cmos ram can do that. Also, any crud on the board, like battery leakage or beverage spill, even if it looks dry it can be conductive and drain a battery. Was it a good, fresh battery that you installed? And there are different types of coin batteries, maybe you installed one that fits but isn't the correct one? Some coin batteries have a higher power rating (same voltage but last longer). What is the number written on the battery, like "2032"? In general, the thinner the coin battery is, the shorter time it will last.

Check the voltage before you install it. If its not 3.3 or above the batteries you are using are suspect. New doesn't mean that they are not old.

its a 2354, quite thick. according to the data sheet, its 3 volt, not 3.3.  soon as i have time i'll pull the board, take a look and see whats what.

Yes it's a 3v battery but new and fresh they will read 3.3 or even 3.4.
So if your "new" is reading 3 volts it's half dead.
