I have seen this is a common topic with this machine. I have a Bally Alpha S9 Devil and Diamonds. I changed all three batteries in this machine and now when the machine boots it will show the quick bios screen, then go to the Bally screen with the progress bar at the bottom, after 100% it will go to the starting kernel screen. It will show the list of items "installing" and will say can't find game config, loading defaults, then the screen will go gray and the machine will not finish booting up. Turning the reset key has no effect. The game worked fine before the battery change as well. I believe the ram needs to be cleared. Is this correct? If so does anyone have a set of cards they wish to sell? I believe my bios is 807 with 317 OS Thank you for any help

Yes, changing the batteries will make the nvram go corrupt.  You need to clear and re-setup

HELP with Bally S9000 Monte Carlo Spin & Win
« Reply #3 on: July 02, 2024, 02:11:06 PM »
Purchased 2 Bally Monte Carlo Spin & Win slot machines two years ago. They were working fine, but then had to go into storage. Just took them out and they won't boot up; nothing on video screen.

Total Newbie, but I did replace the CR2477N battery on the motherboard with no change. Are there other batteries? Other things to check or do? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

The CR2477N battery is on the MPU.  There is also a CR2032 battery on the backplane (motherboard).  Blank screen sounds like power supply issue.  Also that wheel at top may also have a battery, I'm not sure.

My 2 Bally S9000 Monte Carlo Spin & Win slot machines were working fine two years ago, but then I had to put them into storage. Just took them out and the won't boot up.

I replaced the CR2477N battery on the motherboard and the 2032 battery on the backplane with no change. My OS is AVOS00000341-05, and BIOS AVBBP26S300M‐03. Based on the operating system and info I found online, I purchased a Bally Alpha software Clear Chip AVOCLEAR0335-01. I followed the steps, i.e., removed the OS and game cards and restarted with just the clear card and nothing happened.

What am I missing? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Clear card in top slot?  Did you plug everything back in on the brainbox?

Thanks. Yes, the clear card was put in the top slot, and the game card pulled out from the bottom slot. All plugs were reconnected, but nothing happens. All suggestions welcomed.

Since both machines were functioning before being put in storage, it seemed like replacing the batteries should have done the trick, but unfortunately not.

Thank you so much for your response; it is greatly appreciated.

Yes, when I turn both the main and cabinet power switches on, the three lights next to those switches come one and the screen flashes once saying “VGA in.”  The bill acceptor starts up with the left most of the three lights being green. The reel lights come on and the reels start turning as does the ball on the spin wheel. The red LEDs in the WIN PAID/ CREDT/ TOTAL BET start flashing red 8.8.8.8.8.

When I flip the black ATX power switch, the green light by the switch comes on and the red light to the left of the switch starts flashing. The reel lights turn off and they stop spinning as does the ball on the wheel.
After a few minutes, the reel lights come on and they start spinning again as does the ball on the wheel.

Then the reels and ball stop, reel lights stay on, and the WIN PAID and CREDIT go to 0 and the TOTAL BET to 1. The flashing red light to the right of the ATX switch stops flashing. The ring around the wheel turns red and the diamonds inside are flashing.
The machine stays there.

Bally Alpha S9 problem with voucherr payout.
« Reply #10 on: July 14, 2024, 03:57:33 PM »
Thanks Sixcardmark.

Well, I removed and reattached all the VGA cables and finally got some video. At first, I just got some streaky colors on the monitor- please see attached. Then, after removing and replacing the VGA plug to the MPU a few times, I got the game screen and was able to push the white button and access the Alpha setup screen. Hooray, I finally got all the errors resolved and was able to play the game!!!

One issue remains,  although I have an Ithaca 950 TITO installed, which is working because it does print out a VOID VOUCHER from the setup screen, when I hit collect, it doesn't print a credit voucher, but says "CALL ATTENDANT, HANDPAY. I went through the CLEAR and SETUP several times but must be missing something there that directs the payout to the voucher. Can you provide any guidance here? Thanks, it would be much appreciated.
