CPU-3.2X and CPU-4.1.1.X Bios Module
« on: October 25, 2022, 11:56:27 AM »
Looking to buy a Bios Module for a SG CPU-3.2X and CPU-4.1.1.X Processors. Pictured is an ABIP04X0211A. I also need a ABIPF320211A. I have the NBOT-00003-2021 module for the WMS games but looking for the ABIP modules to boot to ArgOS. This is new territory for me so I'm starting from the beginning.

Also attaching pictures of the front and back of the NBOT CPU-3.2X Bios Module and CPU. I need to build the courage to open one of these up and take a peek inside. The over mold is pretty soft, so I won't need the Jaws of Life to open it up. I suspect I will see a couple IC's (one being the bios and the other(s) monitoring the bios progress since the LED lights in the handle show progress of the power on and boot cycle. The socket it's inserted into looks like a PCIE 1x.
Thanks

I need to reverse engineer those I've been building std replacement bios for blades for a while now after we got a batch of machines that had none in them. So if there's a source out there, leave a note, then something as simple as bios modules won't be as rare as hens teeth. The last s23s through didn't have anything special just std blade programmed bios modules in them, I should have at least looked at the board while I had those.

I couldn't  help it. I had to know what's inside. It has 2 Atmel chips (JURS) and the MXIC (Bios).

This looks doable to get this one to boot to ArgOS. I'm still looking for a source for these if anyone has them.
Thanks

I can confirm that's the same Bios chip (Macronix MX 25L6406E) I've been using for fabricated blade bios, no problem there. The separate sjur chip is simple enough too and as expected under the wrap, The microcontroller, probably just runs the lights, I really doubt it does any flow control. Still I'd probably just fab an electrically same board for any future modules.

I did this already.   Also have a programmer board.
There is no microcontroller, just EEPROMs, pretty much same as BB3, just in a cool module now..
The LEDs are powered from the CPU
The open traces or whatever are to set the addresses on the EEPROMs, if they ever decide to change them..
I can read the EEPROM but can't write to it (because of the address).   No need to read/write to it anyway.

I started making a cover for it, but lost interest at the moment.

The JURS EEPROM is not used for ArgOS.

I did get your PM but I am unable to send PM :(
I have around 10 Argos bios modules for 3.2x and 1 NBOT for the same platform.
