Bally E series battery replacement
« on: July 12, 2023, 04:56:23 PM »
I have this e series bally 7s machine that I just got and from doing some research on here ive read that I need to get this battery out before it causes some damage.  I have a couple questions before I start.  What series board do I have?  What is the best way to remove the battery?  Clip the leads on the battery or unsolder from the back? Do I need to put a battery back in.  I was told by the previous owner that the battery only keeps accounting info.  Is this the right chip to clear errors?  And finally if I do get errors what chip do I pull out and put the zero clear chip in?  Thanks for all the help

cut the legs of the battery and later remove the rest

resistor R62 must be removed and put a schottky diode in the position next to CR5 for CR2032 Li battery

ram clear is inserted in place of P1 ROM and it will display a cycle of numbers

are you familiar with arduino and hobby electronics?

you can build with an arduino mega and 30 wires an eprom reader and you can even write eeprom instead of eprom

No Ive never done anything with arduino.  I wasnt told anything about replacing a resistor.  I was just told to take out the old battery put a new holder with leads in and  sold a battery and the chip.  Now im not sure what Im doing.  Thank goodness I didnt listen to their advice.

original is a nicd battery (3x1.2V) that is charged while running through the series resistance but that can drain over time

the version proposed by me involves replacing it with a Li battery with a socket that does not require recharging, that's why the diode is placed and resistance removed

there is also the option of removing the battery and not putting anything in because the memory was only used for casino statistics
