hallo guys..my aristocrat is giving me the message "meter disconnected". can anyone tell me what the problem is??

Since slot machines are built for use in casinos they have to record a bunch of financial bookkeeping information like number of coins inserted, coins paid out, etc. Not just the casino but the regulators in the state also want this info to help ensure no fraud or theft occurs. On a lot of older machines this data was kept with meters, also called counters. The meter is a small box with numbers on wheels that advance one count when an electrical signal is sent to it. They often making a clicking sound when operating. Sometimes people get annoyed by the clicking noise and unplug them, but if the machine is built to detect this then you will get an error. You don't really need the meters on a home-use machine and depending on the model of machine they can sometimes be eliminated.

A lot of machines are designed to detect if someone disconnects a meter since that might be done as part of a theft. Otherwise an employee could unplug the meters, come back a few hours later, take money from the machine and plug the meters back in. Or money could be skimmed in the coin count room to match the lower numbers on the meters.

If you take a look inside your machine you may find some meters (counters) and perhaps one of them is unplugged or has failed.

yes it is possible, but we need to know more about your particular machine.

I was looking to see if I could find a manual for your machine to get more info about it but no luck so far. Did you find the meters on your machine? If it is a new style machine the meters are done electronically, in the mpu memory, and they call that a meter also. But due to the way you said the error message read I thought it might be a real meter, an actual part installed in the machine with wires connected to it. Can you post a couple of pictures of your machine, one showing the front and one showing the inside with the door wide open?

I take it that these are new machines to you. Did you find any meters in the machine, or have they possibly been removed by previous owner? Do you have another similar machine to compare this one to?

If the meter function is done in software maybe a dead battery is not allowing the software meter function to work? Could try swapping the mpu board to see.

WITH THE POWER OFF!!!
Pull and reinstall the MPU ans I/O boards.
I have had this error when there was a bad connection
between these boards and the back plane.

the metters are above the lcd screen..we have these machines for several years now but never had this problem..
now but we never had this problem

I didn't see the meters in photo, I think the picture was cutoff above the screen. Anyway, there is sometimes a meter board that the meters are connected to. It may have a fuse that is blown. Have you taken a close look at the meters and how they are connected? Disconnect any cabling going to the meters and look for corroded pins, then reconnect and see what happens.

Can you examine the cabling going to the meters or the meter assembly, see if there is something wrong? Your meter photo shows a green circuit board behind the meters, you can inspect it to see if there's an obvious problem. Also, there should be a cable that goes from the Interface or Backplane board to the meters. I think it is connected to P2 on the Backplane board, which is mounted behind the card cage (logic board metal enclosure). Inside the card cage is the MPU board and the I/O board. From reading thru the manual the I/O board operates the meters and verifies that they are present in the machine, under instruction from the MPU board. The I/O board connects to the meters thru the Backplane board. So if all the cabling is ok you could have a bad Backplane or I/O board or meter assembly board. Hopefully you have another similar machine that you can swap parts with to see what is failing.

i have another machine with the same game on it..can i swap the main and I/O board without changing the game kit to check if the I/O board is bad?? just asking in case something bad happens

Swapping boards shouldn't be a problem, that's what a service tech would do if a board was bad and he was installing a new one. But I'm not an expert on your model game. Just take normal precautions, turn off power to the machine, don't use excessive force when installing the boards, watch for any cables attached to the boards, etc.

after the main and I/O board swapp i saw that the original boards of the machine where not bad..so i changed the metters with their board..problem solved..the metter board was bad..thank you for your help
