Trying to convert a cfast card to work on a cf machine
« on: February 25, 2024, 07:55:59 AM »
First i wanted to thank everybody for there input on this issue ...i Have tried everything from converting a cfast either though making the card to a cf to bring to run it on a ssd drive...At one point the game would load but install on the machine but would no boot up to be able to run..there were no errors on the screens..Tried this with several games..the only two things i could think of is either the CPU or the Video software on the game is not compatible with the green board currently on my Machine..There 3 Games i have tried and it will load but will not boot to play..I just curious if it is a lost cause ..Any ideas will help thanks

What machine, what games, you used a set chip?

I looked back at some of your posts and Buffalo Revolution will not play on a Viridian if that is one of the games you are trying.  Cfast cards were meant for gen 8 or higher machines so your mileage may vary.

What method did you use to go from cfast to cf

More info might help here

I loaded the cfast card on a laptop and mapped the software to a cf card and the game loaded on the machine with no errors, but when the game would take several minutes with no game loaded ..came back after 30 minutes still no game on the screen..I did them put the card in a ssd case with the same results..I did with several games some were ran on the red board gen7 machine..thanks

Revolution is actually a Gen9 game but will play on a Gen8 Helix.  Whoever told you is was Gen7 was wrong.

Wild Leprecoins works fine on a Gen7 so must be your green board in your machine or incorrect transfer to a CF card.  I had that game playing on my Viridian with a red board, GT630 video card  and latest bios.

It WILL run on a viridian period.  I can' t recall all the details as far as which board, vid card, etc we used.  But it does work.  We will be building another in the near future and i can sort out the details then.

This was all mk7 hardware inside and we converted the cfast image to a cf card to make it run on said harware.

That's interesting, I was able to get it running on my Veridian but with a Gen8 board in it and a helix audio amp.  Also, had to change out the tocuh controller to USB too

We did change out the touch controller as well.  The usb touch control would work perfectly with the oem monitors, but it would not work on the units where the casino's had replaced the monitors with ceronix replacements.  My thought was that ceronix may have switched to a panel that is incompatable with the 3m microtouch controllers.

I finally found my notes on setting up the Revolution game.

474lsa is correct the game does play on a red board, with GT630 video card. There were 2 issues, one was the lack of touch screen which I solved changing out the serial controller to USB.  The second issue was the game played but not very smooth, reels were jerky sound did not match credit roll up at times..    I had a spare Gen8 CPU.  In order to make is fit I removed the metal plate attached to the CPU so I was able to slide the CPU into the backplane.  All was good except for no sound.  I had to change out the AMP to one for a helix.  The game then played smoothly then and the sound was a bit loud though due to the size of the amp.  My wife hated it...... :24: :24:

One big benefit of changing it all out was being able to play some pretty cool Helix games that refused to play before.
If it ain't broke don't mess with it.....
