Vintage Rare hard to find IGT Double Diamond Dollar Slot Machine.
This machine is in excellent working condition. What makes it rare and hard to find is that it is a dollar slot machine and only takes cash, does not take coins or tokens. There are other Double Diamond machines on the market, but they are usually 25 cent machines. The dollar machines are very hard to find. This machine comes with a key.

This ebay ad looks like a total fraud to me. There's nothing rare about this machine. It's an S2000 3-Reel, 5-Line, 5-Credit machine, probably running SB100227. Award glass is in credits. It's capable of whatever denomination you want. It has coin handling equipment in the door, just no coin slot or hopper.  It has no printer. This is just a standard S2000 slot. Nothing rare about it. it certainly is not worth the advertised price of $1,999.99. Maybe $600

It is a woman seller who probably knows nothing about slot machines looking at her other items.  She may have even overpaid for it big time.

Rare? Now it if had the dollar coin head, hopper and all the rest needed for coin operation, then maybe it will would't be rare.
If she included 400 Eisenhower dollars, and take out the 1 from that price... then maybe!

In the S+ world most started out in life as a $1 machine, which when you consider this was the very early 80's made these machines $3.00 a spin.
Ma and Pa motorhome crowd would never play for $0.75 a pull much less $3.00 so most were quickly converted to $0.25 or $0.05 cents.

There is a famous quote from the floor manager of Harrah's who once wrote "He would never have a penny slot on the floor as they cheapen up the place".
At the time he was referring to the 0.01 coin slots (rolls of pennys) not the current model that sports 100 lines, at a penny spin with TITO.
However when the multi-denomination slots came out this comment came back to bite him.
Soon after Caesars took over Harrahs (which got its start as the Holiday Inn) and I am sure he retired during this transition.

I can't remember but it was either the New Frontier or the Stardust that used to hand out 1/2 rolls of nickels as a promotion in their "fun book" to get people in the door. Once again pointing out that he low denominations were the bell of the era. IGT probably sold the quarter or nickel conversion kits as an extra to the casinos.

Coming back to the post at hand. This is not a "rare" S+ kept in its original form, its a early S2000.
Since it does have coin handling it can easily be converted to any denomination including tokens.

My suspicion is that this one hails from either the MGM which when they opened had the "yellow brick road" theme from Wizard of Oz or the Mirage as it was the largest mega resort when it opened (pre-MGM). I lean towards the MGM as I don't think S2000's were around when the Mirage opened but I have been wrong at least once before. In that context the gold albeit IMHO gaudy would make it somewhat rare, and unlike many I have seen - this one is not peeling.

Still not worth the asking price, but as they say its always easier to negotiate down then up.
