Universal Reel/Video Games / Re: Replacement NIMH BATTERY?

For a direct replacement order a 22000 uF 16 VDC Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitor - Snap In.

Or you can use a radial or axle polarized 22000 uF 16 VDC Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitor.

It's a 3 LINE MODEL 8938-0005 with an 8116 main board. The ID Label is normally riveted to the outer right side of the cabinet.

Do You know if Ci can take a Very accurate 5v power supply and tap in/bypass the wiring in the machine and install it SOLO? I also have cases of every power supply made?

Thanks for saying that!
It forced me to search for bally coin comparitor.   I flipped the COIN MECH switch UP (while the machine was OFF) > powered up > now the coins go INTO Machine and it WORKS NOW!

Thank you Sir  :applause:

I really want to THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR EVERYTHING. When I replaced the battery and everything worked, I sent video to my friend. It was his dad’s and they All had tears,( I heard) then it took a dump and I feel awful. I’d give him a machine but he the memories. That’s why I will do anything necessary to get this going.
After I replace the cap should I try it or wait until the mosfet gets replaced too? I have thousands of caps, and other electronic be parts. Do You happen to  b know the specs that I would need so I can look in my pile and see what’s what? Thx.

One last question, Do You know the model of this machine or where it’s hiding?

You MUST have a working USB Diag key and of course your ekey7.

And you need to have the AVP OS loader on a fat32 formatted flash drive.

Plug in both the ekey and Diag key into the protected USB ports behind the metal cover and power on.

The AVP will always boot from USB if it detects the ekey and a valid bootable USB drive plugged in (the diag key).  The diag key has it's own OS, so the AVP hard drive can be all messed up and it doesn't matter.   Now if you plugged your Diag key into a PC newer than Win7, well you probably messed it up.  You should NEVER put a diag key into a PC, there's no reason to.

There is a .bat file that will clean files that Windows newer than Win7 automatically writes to any USB drive you plug in that messes it up.  But you'll need to run it on a Win7 computer to clean your diag key so it works again if it doesn't boot now from the diag key.

So as long as you diag key isn't messed up.

Plug in both the ekey and Diag key into the protected USB ports behind the metal cover and power on.

It will boot to diagnostics.  And in diagnostics, select to clear Safe Storage, NVRAM, and the hard drive.

Takes about 15 sec and when complete, shut down the machine.

Remove the diag key and replace it with a fat32 formatted usb flash drive with just the OS loader on it, so you just have that and your ekey plugged in.

Power on, and it will install the OS to the AVP hard drive.  When it completes, unplug the ekey and flash drive with the OS loader file on it and reboot.

System will initialize and put you into initial setup.   Plug in your ekey and complete initial setup, there are youtube videos on how to do initial setup on an AVP.

When you complete that it will simply say "No Games Configured".

Now you can plug in your USB flash with games and go into the Manage Packages to install games, and then enable them.  Don't boot again with the ekey in and a flash disk with loader files plugged in and your drive shouldn't do that authentication error junk again.    Only install games after boot by plugging in your ekey, Manage Packages, and then plug in your USB with game loaders (also always on a fat32 formatted flash drive) to load them in and enable them.

That's it.   Loading an AVP machine from blank.   Will recover the system from pretty much anything if it really gets messed up.  Just takes time to reload and configure games.

If your diag key is messed up and you have or can use a Win7 or earlier machine, PM me with your email and I can send you the .bat file that will clean the diag key of junk Windows files that mess up diag keys when they're plugged into a PC.

The +5vdc needs to rock solid. So the the fact that the voltage is going from 1.49 to 6.59 tells me your power supply is tanking. I would disconnect the CN4 plug until it's fixed. Two things to replace, the large filter cap (22,000mf-16v) on the inside and the N-CHANNEL MOSFET on the topside. The MOSFET number is obsolete and I haven't found a plug & play replacement yet. The capacitor will be easy to find, check Mouser. Replacing the capacitor may fix the issue so replace it first. First check the value to make sure it's 22,000mf-16v. It's attached to the wall inside of the power supply case, both leads attach to the MOSFET. Take a screwdriver and short the two pins together to discharge any residual voltage before disconnecting the wires. Make a note of which wire connects to what terminal, it's polarized. Order a 22000 uF 16 VDC Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitor - Snap In. I'll send the part number for the MOSFET if I find one. You could also post a want ad and see if there's a working RED DOT available from a NLG member too.

Bally Alpha Reel Games / S9000 Alpha - Strange Top Screen Off-Set
« Last post by stlscott on Today at 10:19:40 AM »
I'm having issues with the top monitor.  This didn't happen until I changed the OS version.

Bally S9000 Alpha
Stars and Bars Quick Hits Game
1GHZ MPU
Bios Version: AVBBP26S1GHZ-03
OS Version: AVOS00000336-09

I've tried to adjust the top monitor with the buttons on the back but nothing got even close to resolving it.

Does anybody know where to source the actual little tiny black chips on the back of the multi-denomination glass sensor on an S2000? I have a couple of sensors that are missing the little black chip so those quadrants don't work and I'd like to buy some replacement chips...I searched based on A2PD but not finding anything... any help would be greatly appreciated.

...I thought this rogue wire may be the problem, it's located under the play button...

There's 2 more questions you need to answer.

Something needs to be going under these tabs (See photo)  to lock the door closed.
Again, I haven't worked on a slant top in a decade so I'm throwing this idea out...
Open the main front hatch, then close (or hold) the cash box outer door shut, then close the main door.
