Sizzling 7 S Plus Help Requested
« on: March 09, 2024, 10:29:47 AM »
I got myself another "fixer upper". I picked up a Sizzling 7 that doesn't work. Missing tray and MPU board. I threw in a good board and tray from another working S Plus. Check all fuses. Powers up. Lights work, reels lock in place but no displays. Bottom candle flashes rapidly and top flashing slow. Closing and latching door changes nothing. Will a clear Chip process be neeed to get displays woking or is there another possible issue? I need to find the game and reel chips needed a an S plus board. Additionally I can't find Sizzling 7 3CM in the library that would list the game type and reel chip numbers.
I just threw a board and chips in from another game to see if it had life.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sizzling 7's is a 3CBP (3 coin buy a pay) Type zero game....it's not a multiplier game.
Contact NLG member named RB....he may have chips you want.

There's absolutely no need to use a clear chip.
You're not changing the coin denomination nor stuck in a the "[61-1] Loop".
There's "another possible issue"...>>>

The "reels locking in place" is a good sign.
That means 24VAC is getting to the MPU.
But there's no indication that the display is getting any power?
Fluorescent lighting uses different power from the power supply....the 115VAC household current.

Check the small black Molex that connects to the back of your display.
Stick a multimeter onto the pins and tell what voltages you're getting?
I wish you would have told us if you have the long reel glass display or the smaller rectangular one that's located up above the bill acceptor (if there is one).

Check the pins underneath the MPU to see if any are touching each other or bent out of place.
Make sure the GAME and REEL eproms in their respective sockets in the correct orientation.
There woulld be either a notch on one end of the chip body or an indentation circle on top one one end.
These would match the notch etched directly upon the circuit board surface next to one end of the socket.
It's possible too, that there's a folded chip leg UNDER a chip body that you cannot see.
This is what a small bent screwdriver is good for....or a chip puller.

I put in a known good board and chip from another S-Plus machine without going through a clear. I don't have or know what the correct game and reel chips are for this game. The working board/chips from another working machine only firms the reels with no displays and has flashing upper and lower candles.

I will checks pins. I'm thinking I may need to clear it but, thought I could atleast get displays or an error throwing a good board in from another machine.

Ok...your photo shows you have the smaller rectangular display on the older version of an S+ with the small deck buttons.
Check the connecting harness behind the display.
Remove the black connector and stick multimeter probes on the pins to see if any power is coming out of it?

Your middle fuse should be 6A Quick-blow fuse. 6 or 8 amps...it says next to the fuse....I don't remember off-hand.
It will have a thin filament wire inside a glass tube....not the wide metal or large round coiled wire.

Also, check the lamps that should be behind the Insert Coin and Coin Accepted displays to see if they're not burned out and have continuity?

Finally, you said the reels lock up....that's good, but if you wiggle the white power supply Molex on the motherboard, watch to see if the display comes on at all.
That will tell us that the male pins on the motherboard are oxidized and need to be cleaned.

Progress! I have the luxury of having a known good machine sitting right next to it. I quickly swapped the small display board between machine. The display now works on the sizzling 7 shows 65-1. The suspected bad one does not display in good machine. The display board is definitely bad. Repair or replace?

Now I need to find a good 10MHZ board, display board, and the correct Game/Reel chips.

Where can I find the info needed to get the correct chips????
