Bally S5500 Bill Validator Issues

Hello, I have a bally S5500 machine that had a DBV-145 bill validator head in it.  I bought a tested DBV-200-SH to put in it thinking the head was the problem and it still will not take any bills.  At power on, the stacker goes up and down and the validator cycles briefly.  But it won't even start to take in any bills.  On the main board, JW3 switches 5 and 6 are set to off-on, respectively.  I am not sure what to try next.  Anyone have ideas?  Thanks!

No, it did not work with the 145 head and that head had a black X on it so I assumed that it was the head that was bad.  Now it seems that it is something else. I should also not that JW3 switches 5 and 6 were both set to OFF.

Do you have this gray wire in this position on BV harness at the backplane.? If not, it needs to be moved to this position

I mentioned that on the main board, JW3 switches 5 and 6 are set to off-on, respectively.  Previously they were both set to off and I had to change them.  Someone mentioned that when I change the switches I have to do a clear to get the new settings to take effect.  So now I am trying to do a clear with clear chips and the displays are flashing all 9's.  For some reason the clear is not working.  Any ideas what the flashing 9's indicate?

Can you clear it with JW10 jumper , not using clear chips?  Yes when you change dip switch you have to do a clear for the changes to be accepted.

I tried the clear with only the J10 jumper and nothing happened.   So I thought the chips are required and I can't get them to clear successfully either.

Turn machine off, put J10 jumper on both pins, replace board, hold test and pseudo coin buttons, turn on power.

The machine seems to boot up as if I'm not holding the buttons.  It shows 5.0. In the win paid.   0 in coin in.  And 160 in credits.

Try a different jumper. The jumper may be bad internally

Tried a different jumper and same result. Are there other jumper settings I should confirm?   When I looked for another jumper to use, I noticed some are on both pins and some are not.

After resoldering the pins and re-running the clear procedure,  the bill validator now works.  Thank you Sunrise Side for the help!
