Question on the All Star poker (IGT/action gaming)
« on: June 04, 2016, 08:24:54 PM »
Hello,

Sorry if this has been asked before, newby here.

I have two action games - all star video poker machines and I'm wondering if there is a mod or chip that I can install that has more games.

With computers being pretty advanced and memory cheap, I'm wondering if there is a way to load this up with everything.

While the machine has a nice list of games I want to add 50play, 100play, multistrike VP, basically load it up with everything instead of one type of chip that has 100 games or this other chip that has 65 games, etc.

thank you in advance.

You can get Super Star Poker which has Poker, Keno, Slots, and multi-hand games.  Spin Poker, Ultimate X Poker, and Super Times Pay Poker are on there as well.  Awesome game!

The others that you mentioned are 3902 platform games I believe.  I'm not sure if you can get those on the 044 platform.

If you want to maintain the original hardware and gameplay, you can only use that which was made available to casinos.  All these gaming cabinets employ all kinds of security measures to prevent people from injecting their own versions of the game to cheat or otherwise defraud the system.  About the only way to achive what you are asking is to put a pc inside the cabinet and connect the player panel to a mame type keyboard controller, then buy the programs made by Masque (they sell multiple types of slot and poker software made by IGT originally) and run the machine as a pc with the software loaded on demand.

Other than eye candy, there are no mods to turn the system into something it was never meant to do.

Hi Jason,

I should have mentioned I have a super star and a all star machine so I've got a good selection of games between the two machines, I'm just wondering if there is a conversion kit or a new PCB that has "ALL" the games. Memory and hard drives are inexpensive these days, it would be great to have say 500 games on the system to include everything I already have and also 50,100 play along with more slots, multi strike, etc.

Thanks Rick,

Just say your post after typing that last one.

Are there any good options available to interface to the original harness' to connect sound, buttons  to a PC emulator or is this a gut the machine, and rewire everything to a ipac or other mame related emulator.

Yes, pretty much gut it out and wire to an ipac.  I know of a couple of people who have done something similar.  Mame now emulates Player's Edge Plus games.  The more modern stuff would have to be dedicated software.  I know Action Gaming came out with some games through Masque.  There are also a lot of SAVP IGT games available which are very cool.  You would probably have to switch the touchscreen to something PC compatible since the IGT stuff uses Netplex.  It is easier to convert a Bally Alpha or WMS cabinet for this particular purpose since the monitors use RS-232 touchscreens.

Great suggestions. Thank you.

This sounds like a fun project. Having built many mame systems, this would be fun to setup.

I'll download and try some of the masque programs to see how they work.

Ideally, I would love to do a dual monitor wheel of fortune slot so the reels are on the main screen and a second display above for the bonus spins but that would probably need a emulator with dual monitor support. Not a feature I would expect on a commercial PC program.
