IGT IPlus Game King Problem booting up
« on: April 16, 2018, 10:15:21 PM »
I have a Game King Multi Game touch screen Model #96409400 screen slot machine - Board #2068-A, S/N 598 392, W/O # 634280, Mfg 6/98. It turns on and lights up but the screen just slowly flashes different colors, (blue, red, yellow, light green, white, lime green), then goes blank and recycles through the colors again. I got new a whole new set of chips for it including key chip 28 and 40 as well as a new multi media board and replaced the battery. Nothings working.  Any ideas? I am at a loss. Thanks for any imput that may help.  :)

How long are you waiting for the game to boot up? Some game that have SIMM cards can take a couple minutes to boot. Post a picture of your MPU.
Please remember to make a donation to NLG for mine/our help in repairing your machines problem.. Your donations help keep this site on line.
And remember...
If it's jammed, force it.. If it breaks, it needed to be replaced anyways...

A picture of the inside of the machine would be helpful as well.  Based on the year of your machine I believe it's an older model game king.  Pictures would confirm.

Wow, what timing. My GK 17 CRT 3902 was working fine then all of a sudden after neglecting it play for a couple days I go to turn her on and I get a soft sounding click-click... a slight monitor flash with subsequent MPU lights flash and nothing..... just keeps cycling through this way once every few seconds or so. My first uneducated guess is that the crt isnt firing and potentially went bad. Or perhaps the PS? Any ideas I would be grateful for.

It sounds like it may a power supply problem or something loading the power supply down.   Are the fluorescent lights going on and off as well?  The electronic ballasts can cause that problem when they fail.  You can unplug them and see if that resolves the problem.

Ok, so I got the validator working except it won't accept bills.  It goes in but rejects it.  Any idea what it could be?

No, the lights never even come on at all... just a little power surge as if the screen is trying to fire but fails, repeat. I think ima try and change out the PS.

Thank you!

Finally figured this out and boy do I feel like an idiot! You know those round circular florescent tube lights that go in the round topper of the igt 3902? Well, apparently if that light is burned out the machine sees it as a bad ballast I think and hence will not allow the machine to fire. Picked up a brand new round tube bulb, slapped her in, and a VWALA! 100% functional.

Thought I would follow up on this thread to close it out with a solution in the event anyone else wants to avoid feeling like I felt. lol

Thanks All!

Scott
