Can not reset 61 1 code
« on: February 27, 2020, 08:52:33 PM »
Hi everyone.  Really need some help.  I had an error code 12.  Removed the board, replaced the battery and re-installed the board.  Turned the machine on and gave me the 61 error code.  Pushed reset, 61 1 appeared. Went to turn to reset the jackpot and discovered I do not have a key.  Not sure if it is lost or I didn’t get one when I bought the machine 3 years ago.   Read on another form that if I remove the wires from the jackpot switch and cross them while the machine was on, door closed and the 61 1 appeared.  Tried and still nothing happened.  The 61 1 remains.  Can someone please help???  As I mentioned in my earlier posts, this is all new to me.  Thanks so much!!

If you crossed the wires before the door was closed, it won't clear the error.
For now, take the lock off and run the wires outside thru the lock hole and touch them together "momentarily".
It will have the same effect has turning the Jackpot key.

If you can't get the lock off the cabinet, make a extension of the two wires , leave the coin tray off and run the two extended wires out under the door.
Then close the door and touch the extended wires momentarily. The [6-1] should go away.
Place a WTB ad in the Classifieds section of NLG for a new key.

Hi and good morning.  I did remove the lock and ran the wires through the hole.  I turned the machine on, displayed the 61 message, pressed reset and nothing happens.   If I touch the wires before I press the reset button, it shows, what appears to be, a programming display, like if I had to make changes to the game.

Touching the wires before only opens the internal accounting system pages - you can't change anything there.

Your machine logic is frozen.

You need to perform a Clear.

You can get those chips for an S+ pretty easy on ebay or by placing an WTB ad in the Classifieds section of NLG.

If your machine has a bill validator, make sure the door is closed on that before you close the main door to touch the wires together.

Re-seat the bill box.

That is what I was afraid of, having to clear the machine.  Thanks so much for your help!

Well...it could be door optics too.

Does the number in the [Coins Played] go off momentarily when you close the door and push the latch all the way down?

If you have mis-aligned  or bad door optics, every time you turn the jackpot key only gets you into the accounting system of the machine.

I think you have the sequence wrong.

1. Door closed 61 error.
2. Open door hold the white button in until you hear the ding.
3. You should have the 61-1
4. Close the door
5. Momentarily touch the wires.

If you are not at the 61-1 touching the wires puts you into stats mode.
Refer to Ricks FAQs (bottom of NLG home page) regarding doing a game change.

If the 61-1 becomes a 61 after touching the wires then you are in the dreaded 61,61-1 loop and you will need a clear chip.

If you can't afford to lose you can't afford to win.

The number of coins played shows 1 for about 1/2 a second.  Then the display is blank and the 61 appears.  When I press the reset button, the 61 disappears for about a second or two, then comes back.   The 61 1 does not appear at all.

You [61] keeps coming back means that your logic is stuck in a loop.
You must use a clear chip.
This event is just about the only time you need to do this to get your machine up and running.

Turned the machine on and gave me the 61 error code.  Pushed reset, 61 1 appeared.

When I press the reset button, the 61 disappears for about a second or two, then comes back.   The 61 1 does not appear at all.

Your two posts conflict each other.  In your original post you said you got to 61 1.  In your later post you say that 61 1 does not appear at all.

Also, for clarity, there is no "reset button".  There is the self-test button next to the power switch, and the jackpot reset keyswitch on the side of the machine.
