Any ideas?
« on: May 16, 2020, 12:26:37 PM »
Below blue screen message pic is from WOZ Wicked Riches Transmissive game.  Game plays fine if not selecting the OLED.  The odd part is if I select OLED as the bet deck it appear to be proceeding to program the deck (red leds rotating around each button)but just before the game comes up I get the giant CALL ATTENDANT message.  So I open the door and turn the key and get this message.  I loaded the card up in Linux and found a folder with a pic of an OLED along with 2 mechanical deck pics. I also found a buttondef.def file in one of the folders too but it's not an exact match.  Does anyone have any idea what the message is saying on the blue screen pic.  My interpretation is it can't find the configuration file.

Game wants H9.2X OS, that's why it flashed during the booted process from 3.05 to 2.03. Maybe the original game only used a mechanical deck and was just sloppy programming with stuff left over from some other game in the file.  That wouldn't be unusual for WMS software.  Snooping around cards with Linux, it's amazing how much extra stuff in contained on the card that isn't used.
I was trying to find a video on youtube that showed more than the screen but couldn't find anything that showed the deck.

There are no images associated with the game program. That's the kind of error you usually get when you try to run a non-supported game.  Each game has a set of image files that it looks for, but the WOZ game probably has no images in the program, thus because there's an oled panel, the OS is trying to configure it and sees not match that the game is calling.  All these Linux based games boot based on a script, and the scripts get executed one way or another, that's why you see the panel getting flashed as it is part of the OS startup script.

So could you run an older OS say 9.23 that does not support oled decks?

The game requires minimum of H9.20, but first tried it with H9.28 which I knew would flash the deck back to 2.03 firmware.  From there I worked myself backwards to H9.22 which is the lowest I have.  The interesting thing about H9.22 is it didn't select OLED as default if the deck is connected like later versions of the H9.2X series. What is even more odd is even though I selected Common Bet Deck and the game came up fine without the OLED, upon rebooting if the OLED was connected it defaulted back from Common to OLED and gave me the error.  So in the end I just disconnected the OLED and used Common.  It's no big deal since the game plays on the touchscreen, without the OLED.  Also works fine with a mechanical deck and the pull arm too.

Rick, thanks for confirming what I thought about the missing OLED support.

Yeah, I think they are a bit lazy in that they don't assemble every game card for every game, but rather have a template where they just insert the unique assets for a specific game.  All the cards I've explored look very similar with file versions identical across games that were released within a short time frame.
