3100 error for no reason

3100 error every time the machine on or not been used.  I get this error.  If I open the door and close it it will clear it.  when I get this when the machine is idling for little bit or overnight.  when I clear it it works find.

Make sure all is ok with the hopper (no jammed coins or debris in optics). Many times, if hopper is fine, we've seen the 3100 as a result of faulty door optics, either Main Door or Cash Can door optics. 


Does the display "blink" when you close the door each time? If the cash can optics aren't already bypassed, that's quick enough to do in order to eliminate a suspect.

If you've already done some troubleshooting (well, I am guessing you have since you posted it wasn't optics just 3 minutes after I suggested it), why don't you tell us what you HAVE eliminated as potential causes?


Like, does the problem follow the hopper when put in another machine?

I had that issue on my S+ once, turned out to be a flaky coin out optic sensor in the hopper.  The light would flicker making the system think a coin had been paid.  Replaced the optics, and problem gone.  Moving the hopper to another machine would definitely rule this out if it doesn't do it in another cabinet.
