Check the input connections on the monitor.

Remove all of the game chips from the board and try them one at a time, you may find a game chip that is defective or is programmed for a wider, or narrower, monitor size (depending on the size of your monitor).

Re-seat your graphics chips they are to the right of the game chip sockets.

A clear chip in slot 10 implies it is a Game Maker?

it is a 1997 multi touch screen with the v7000 board.
i tried taking all games out and doing a safe ram with dip switch 7 & 8 on, then all switched on, i switched monitors, i changed battery, its 3.6v
so i took out the graphics chips and put them back in, still same block images.

It seems you have another GM to use as a tester, I would switch out the mains and graphics chips, or burn new ones and try them in the board you are having problems with. It looks like corrupted/damaged programming on the eproms.

Also, I don't mean to be a smart*$$, but the game should be off prior to removing the MPU board.

Do you have another machine you can plug the monitor into?

If you plugged the MPU in another machine and got the same results as listed in your prior post, then the problem is within the MPU. Now you have to see if its a software or hardware problem. The starting point is your Mains and Graphics eproms. You will have to switch these out with M&G's from another working Gamemaker or burn new chips from a working file. Then see if the problem is the same or fixed.

Then it is probably some soldered in chip on your board that went bad.
