« on: March 05, 2018, 06:45:43 PM »
The guy I fixed the 1090 dollar machine for said if I can fix this quarter machine, I could keep the dollar machine as payment. If you guys can help me like you did the last one, I'm going for it.
I've cleaned the switches & beau plugs. I'll post some pics & initial problems.
Thanks, Doug.

Coins drop straight through. coin accepted light is always on. Deposit coin is off (bulb is good). Diverter is energized.  I,m new to this coin mech. What is the coil behind it for?

Flick the coin switch. Relay in upper cab clicks. No coin relay switch.

No step up on 2nd & 3rd coins. Yellow wire was off (alligator clip) didn't look like it was cut so i soldered back on.

Broken green wire coming from beau plug may go to one of the switches?

Some of the problems with this unit may be from things that were re-wired.

Where do I start?

Thanks, Doug.

Doug,

if you carefully pull those wires back you should be able to see where that green wire was attached or possibly broken off, when i get home I will look and see if i can see where the green wire is suppose to go, I have a 1090...

Thank you Dave

I'll look closer at the switches. Does your 1090 have the same coin mech? Wondering what the coil behind it is for.

Thanks, Doug

The coin behind the coin MECH is what's call a scavenger coil. That is used to reject coins when you have inserted you max coin bet. When the coil is energized coin can be inserted, when it's not then coins are rejected back to the coin tray.

Thanks for the quick reply,
There are 2 coils, one (#1) behind the coin mech and one (#2) to the lower left of the coin switch. I had them on the last 1090 I worked on except the #1 was a plunge coil that I think energized when coin return button pushed. The #2 was always on except handle pull or payout?
How's that for confusing myself?

The dollar machines use the larger coil and plunger assembly, where this was used on everything else. The one below the coin switch is the coin diverter. It energizes to put the coins in the hopper. When it energizes the hoppers fill with coins until it trips the cherry switch on the hopper. That de-energizes that coil, then they are diverted down the lower coin chute to the stand where a bucket would be to catch the over flow. When a enough coins were paid out the diverter coil would be energized again allowing coins back into the hopper.

Don’t recall a solid green wire. Is there a possible faint trace color like white, yellow or blue?

I don't see any trace of color other than green. When looking at the male beau plug, the upper right corner is yellow, the green one is just below it.

Posting photos of green wires on the payout relay 1090 machine.
One green wire appears to be added on. As its out of the loom and is located to the bottom of the beau plug.
Other green is linked to a lot of yellows next to it.

Can you tell where the other end of that green wire is attached?

When facing the male beau plug (hopper), the upper right corner has a yellow wire. The next pin below that is where the green wire is attached.

Hard to tell by Davids pictures as to where your green wire might go. Your going to have to dig around looking for evidence of where it might have been.. It can only reach so far..

I have the machine working without the green wire, but it still bugs me! I'll keep looking.

I'm moving on to the upper lighting. The two florescents glow dim, but when the starter is removed, they turn bright. I swapped starters from the door. It made no difference. Think I'll wait to get new bulbs and then try it.

BTW, Once again I got the machine working by going back and cleaning the dirt that wasn't there.

Green wires on the payout relay are related to the safety timer.
According to the schematic.

Also used on door hinge switch.

You're right, Dave.

The green wire does go to the safety timer, so I ran a payout with an empty hopper. The hopper keeps running so the timer is not working.
I need to find what controls the timer & that's probably where the wire goes.
