Reel Problem on my S+ Slot
« on: February 12, 2019, 05:48:25 AM »
HelloI got a MPU Board and installed it in my machine. But it doesn't work. The Reels do some stupid things when starting up.
Here is a Video of it:
https://youtu.be/3kU6inugA_8I took the Reels out, cleaned the optics with some alcohol. Checked the connectors and put them back in.They spin freely when the Machine is turned off. If it is on, they are blocked by the motors.
I might also check the lighting in the Slot, None of the flourescent-Tubes are working...
Has anyone an Idea ?

Sounds like you may have a 16mhz chip in a 10mhz board?  Which ss & sp chips are on mpu board?

Hi, I have the SS4780 and the SP1137 Chip installed.
I also tried the Reel Test mode and I recognized that one of the Reels isn't stopping, even if I switch them around. Maybe the Optic Switch broken ?

A 16MHz MPU doesn't have the blue volume potentiometer dial like the 10MHz has.
That's one of the main visible differences of the 2 MPU boards.

Can you verify which MPU is installed in there?
We need to see how you've set it up.
Plus the SP1137 is what we all a "Euro-Credit" or "Montana Credits" Game Prom chip.
It can take endless coins to credit display meter - if set up correctly with a SET86 chip.

A picture of the board really, tells us a million words and we'll be able to help you better!

Okay...you have a 10MHz board.
It looks like the GAME PROM chip [SP1137] is in the socket backwards?
But what's even worse is that the SS Reel Prom chip is for a Triple Diamond/ Triple Dollars payglass and strips.
That is the wrong SS reel chip in there!

Take off the label momentarily and check if the chip orientation dot is facing away from the blue volume dial in it's socket.
There's no notch on it like the SS REEL PROM chip has.

So you must be careful here.
Disregard above...sixcardmark noticed the SP chip is in correct direction in the socket.
If you wait a few moments.
I will take an old SS chip and place it in my socket backwards on my test machine to see if I get the same wacky reels as in your video.

I think so too. The one optic might be broken. I searched online for replacements but I couldn't even find a datasheet.
Someone an idea where I can get it ?
