Bally 6000 Black&White 5X Jackpot - need help

Hi everyone, long time ho hear )


we got Bally 6000 machine without PCB, then ordered new main PCB and put it to machine. After turning machine on, PCB start to heat, no any signals of life on it, LED does not lit and there are no reaction to pressings of test buttons. As a result now the track burned out and the same fate killed the microcircuite (


what we have to do now? try to repair PCB and turn it on again with possible the same result? or how check that PCB is compatible with machine?

so we thought that first 6 is for 6000 machine

Definitely 5500 from appearance with display in upper right.

look on the reel glass, if it says PRO SLOT  then its a 5500,   you might have a input  voltage problem,  maybe the machine is set up for 110vac,  are you using 220 vac ??    just a thought , you can check out the voltages,  the small power supply ( inside the metal housing) uses 110 vac input provides three outputs, +5vdc, +12vdc and -12vdc,  the bridge rectifier and big blue cap make up the +24vdc.

many thanks to everyone who replied!
we still think it's 6000 machine, please see screenshot of the page from manual from Leisure Time Slots LLC
regarding PSU we believe that problem not in the power supply as it works from 105 to 260 vac, please see attached photo
also we know that in the past this machine is from the casino in our city, so it must be already configured for 220 volt
and lights was lit when we tried to turn machine on so we're in doubt that problem somehow related with power...
to be honest we don't know what to do (

I have worked on some Bally machines over the years, not an expert ,only remember certain items, the picture you posted of the machine is a 5500 machine pro series,  from the looks , it does not have a bill unit coming from the black area where the bill unit would be, however it does have the side door unit for the bill stacker.  The board you are showing is a board from a Bally 6000,  not a 5500  board.  the 5500 had the battery located about 3 inches from the front of the board.  they used a 3.6 1/2 AA type battery not a AA type as pictured.

SO  may that is your problem you have a 6000 board in a 5500 machine.

wish Sunrise Set or Pinwizard would confirm my suspicions??

It definitely looks like a 5500 cabinet. Not to say it can’t be an early 6000 or prototype. I have never seen a 6000 with side stack dbv only the 5500’s. The power supplies are interchangeable from 5500- 6000 so don’t look there. I do not have a 5500 board to try in a 6000 to see if it mates. Scott

Maybe a better picture of the back plane board would tell the story?  the 5500 didn't have test points for the voltages??

I agree.  5500. That is why I  believe the 6000 board that was installed started overheating. You need a 5500 MPU.

At the front of the reel assembly you may find a hand written  four digit number.  That may be your SMI  number  needed for your chips for your game.
