the 889 exploded parts diagrams are in the 1100 manual - http://bingo.cdyn.com/slots/bally_manuals/

I don't see a coil there, tho.

got a picture - or at least the wire colors going to the thing -  and the full model number off the plate below the handle?

For some reason it won't let me attach a picture it says I'm exceeding the capacity.  The coil goes on the bottom of the cabinet to the right of the 3 fuses.  I can't find a picture of it in the guide you sent me.  Any ideasJeff

this forum has unfortunate size limits and it doesn't downscale the images for you :-(

email as many pics as you like to slotpics@cdyn.com.  Highest possible resolution.  Full front of the game and insides.  if you want to stick he pics on a cloud drive/file download service, that's fine too.

different models of the 889 had some extra pieces that may not be in the manual.  Pics and especially the wire colors helps.  I'm not sure how many 889 schematics I have ... at least 3 tho.

updated thread topic to 889-ZZB.

that model is a 22 stop fruit machine for the silver city casino.  It uses the same reel tapes, reel wiper boards, payout counter, top glass and reel glass as the 889-C model which I have some paperwork for.

below is your relay pic downsized and brightened a bit.  The blue wire looks like the 6V power wire.  Can't really see what wire colors are on the switches on the relay.

there's a couple possibilities:

1] someone added the relay and it never had a coil.  If you manually hold down the armature to move the switches, the jackpot numbers may change

2] it was something unique for the silver city casino and would only be on their schematic (drawing w-1046-1654)

3] it's on the 889-C schem, but without knowing wire colors that went to the coil or most/all of the colors on the switches, can't identify it

you're probably going to need to reverse-engineer it.  if there was a coil and there's a solid orange 70 wire around there that could of attached to it, then the coil would be the same as relays in the upper compartment.

I'd draw a diagram of the relay of take more pictures identifying all the wires to the thing, and follow those wires to see what they are attached to as best you can.  Then some guesses can be made on what the purpose of the thing is.

First, will the machine operate properly?
If it does and that where my machine. I would remove the unnecessary add ons.
Save the piece for parts.

Other possibility is it was part of some type of security system.
Some machines has a drill proof lining on the left side.
A thin piece of metal sandwiched between two thin insulators.
When the drill passed through the case and hit the security layer, the machine would loose power.
