Bally Alpha Jurisdiction Troubleshooting
« on: October 21, 2020, 05:41:45 PM »
Hi there. I'm working on a Bally Alpha "Silver & Gold" machine. I bought in the US but found that the machine is originally from Canada. Through the help of this site, I've added an MEI Cashflow (it didn't have bv when I got it) as well as purchased a no limit jurisdiction chip and clear card. I changed the 2032 batteries and ran the clear process which appeared successful. When I add the OS chip back in and then power on, it goes through the boot sequence. At the end of the sequence, it gives a "Call Attendant" screen and when I turn the key, gives me a red warning screen stating "GameApp does not support paytable in this jurisdiction".  I tried the clear and reboot process with both the "no limit" chip as well as the existing "ontario" chip and get the same results. Would appreciate a point in the direction of the next troubleshooting step.

Have you tried a different paytable?  You usually get that error when either the software is not allowed in the jurisdiction you are using, or the paytable percentage is out of SJUR's bounds.

I didn't see that option in my initial search. Where can I access it?

And I should add, I can only turn the jackpot key at the Call Attendant screen. I read that I access the menu by pressing the white test button, but that doesnt do anything at that point.

If you change sjur chips you have to clear after you switch.  You most likely have software that is not compatible with the sjur chip.  Clear the game with the Canadian chip and boot with the software to see if you get the same error.  I should also point out that the validator also has to match jurisdiction (can't have a USA validator on a canadian SJUR).

I get the same error after clearing with the ontario chip. The one I got from someone at NLG says "Generic - USD - English".  When I clear the ram, to confirm, I power down the CPU, remove os card, remove game card, insert clear card into top slot,  power CPU on and then turn the key when prompted. Once it says successful, I power down, insert OS and Game and boot up again. Correct?

That is correct.  My guess then is that the software you have might be class 2.  Can you post photos of your game and os cards?

Oh you have a non-elite S9000, the one with the eprom pci board.  You probably need to find out what jurisdiction your eproms are from and get the correct SJUR chip for it.

Thank you! Dumb question, but I only bought the small  No Limits US jurisdiction chip to replace the Ontario jur chip. Should I also have replaced any of the larger ones? Or anything else?

The Bios chip has to match the OS. Your picture isn't clear but it looks like a 26S300M. It would correct for your 336 OS.
Quality doesn't cost. It pays.

All the numbers match up. It does appear I have older game chips on a side board, and then have the converter CF card in the game slot under the OS. Regarding the side board with the 6 different game chips, does that happen to also have a jurisdiction chip? Theres a small chip on there that looks similar to the one on the main board. Wondering if thats part of the issue.
