Williams 40x dotmatrix ERROR CODE

Williams Slot shows an error code of P6A FAIL. Looked through my manual and can't seem to find it. Can anyone help me out? Its not a PGA FAIL Unless I'm looking at it wrong.

The P6A FAIL is the PGA FAIL error.  The way the machine needs to display letters, it uses numbers that look close at times.  But it sounds like you need a new IO Board for that error.  I would try removing the IO board and reseating it first and see if that eliminates the error.  Sometimes with movement, the boards might unseat slightly which can cause some bizarre behavior.  But short of that, a different IO board might be in your future.

Are all of the IO boards the same? I have a few other 40x machines with different games that I could switch boards with. Don't want to damage them though, as they are both in good working order.

Calfdemon is exactly correct. The I/O boards are all the same for the dotmation machines, except that they can be adjusted for different jurisdictions.  As long as you have the correct jurisdiction that match’s the software jurisdiction, then you can use in different machines. If you want to upload a pic of your I/O board, we can tell you what it is. Standard jurisdiction is the most common.
