Hey guys, i live in Wisconsin and my machine was in the garage for 3 days when the temperature was under 30.
The 4th day my brother brought the machine inside the house and he turned on the machine. Suddenly there was a short circuit and a loud bang noise from the power supply.
Was it because the machine was cold or because of moisture due to cold weather?
I know forsure my power supply went out, u think i should be worried about my cpu also?

Why not take a picture of your MPU circuit board and post it?
There are experts here that can pretty much tell you if it's fried or not.
The photograph data size has to be 1000 pixels / kilobytes or less in order for the website to post it.
There are several ways to reduce the size of a photo that a good camera takes.
If you need help with that, just ask questions.

How long have you had the BB3 cabinet?
It is always better to let them warm up slowly to room temperature IMHo...

So i just put a new power supply. The machine boots up but after 5 seconds it turns off.
Whst could be the reason?

Something is putting a load on the p/s most likely. Please post the picture of the MPU as requested.  :yes:

Those are pictures of the backplane.  The MPU is what is inside that silver box that says CPUNXT3.2

Can't really see any obvious burn marks on the mpu.  I would pull the mpu out and power the machine up without to see if it stays on.  This helps to isolate if the issue is on the MPU or the cabinet wiring and peripherals.  (On a blade, you could probably just pull the power plug from the side of the MPU cage, since most of the power used is from that harness.  If it still powers down after removing just the power plug, then I would pull the mpu out all the way and try powering up that way.  You want to see if the rest of the cabinet works without the mpu (monitors, printer, validator, lights, etc).

I tried powering the machine by taking the plug on the right side of mpu. Everything comes on for 5 seconds including bill validator then went off again

oh boy...your power harness going to the backplane from the power supply looks like it's been hacked into big time.

There's a million blue automotive splices coming off of it.


I'm not certain if there's supposed to be that many?


I'm guessing one of those splices is causing the problem.

That was the standard BB3 power harness originally, so not likely if all the power leds are lit up on the backplane.

Did you remove the MPU like Rick suggested and power the machine up then to see if it shuts down.

Yes that is the original power harness and yes i did remove the mpu and tried to boot. Same thing.
But the power harness did get scratched while moving but cant see the copper wire so im assuming its still good
