New Candle Help.
« on: October 27, 2014, 09:20:06 PM »
So I ordered a new candle from Foxslots and I can't get it to light.  If I Jump it off a door bulb I can get each light to light but very dim.  The bulbs look like they are stamped 28v?  They are hard to read so I can't really tell.  Any help?

The EM manual shows a #44 bulb in the candle which is 6 volt.

Bulbs were definatly wrong.  Now if I jump them off another light they are bright.  Still cant figure out which wires in the top box are supposed to be connected.  Looked at the manual and I know the info is there but I am not seeing it

You will probably have to trace the wires back.  One is certainly from your call attendant switch on the door, and the other probably runs during payouts.
Give us the wire colors to your tower lights, and that may help a bit.
You may find a terminal block behind the reels near the handle box on the back wall, or in the top unit that have wires going to them for the tower lights.

So I traced the black with yellow stripe to change switch on door and there is a wire that isn't shown in pic that is brown with yellow trace that goes to door pin switch.  also candle has four wires. red and black for one bulb and green and white for the other.

Cool.\
Your 20 wire (blue) goes to 6V common on the bulb sockets.
The 83 wire goes to one of the bulbs
The 10 wire goes to the other.
wire them to each appropriate terminal as you show in pic and your tower lights should be good to go.

Holy Freaking Crap!   I could have sworn I tried that......  It all works now!   Now what If I wanted to add a bell?  Would I be using some of the same wiring?

You probably would, since the bell is also 6V.

anyone ever use a chime instead of a bell?  Might be less annoying long term.

You CAN adjust the LOUDNESS of the bell by bending the clapper to suit your mood.  Bend it open, gets quieter, closed -- louder.  Or you can put a folded piece of paper under it to mute it.
I'd rather hook up a complex sound generator chip to define different payouts.

Here a link to the sound generator.  I built one when they first came out, trying to beat  IGT to having a sound machine.  It was a real cool device.
