Bally 5500 software question..

I went and looked at a couple Bally Pro 5500 machines that came in a lot a friend received. The one I'm interested in is a 4 Reel Super Continental. Problem is there is no MPU. My question is do I need things like reel strip numbers and possiblie a serial number to look for the games software? The game is complete and clean. I'd hate to see it scrapped..

On the 5500 the SMI of the reels is usually stamped on the metal frame of the reel bracket.

Tim thanks for that list, its very helpful and a keeper.. Badbaud that's good information to know.. Is that simm number located on the front edge of the reel shelf?
