Traced wire from the safety motor on the 1090 and its connected to the safety timer relay switch below the payout relay.
See photo attached.
Dusted off the 1090, still working 100% March 8th 62 degrees in shop.

Thanks Dave!

It's working good. Under bright light and magnifier glass I could see a piece of wire where it broke.
Nice looking 1090. Let me know if you need help fixing it. LOL.

I noticed you have a yellow light on the one on the left. Mine has the same one. Does yours work?
I would like to get my light working.

You never know I may need some help sometime in the future. The members on this website have help me fix quit a few machines.

Glad you were able to get the machine going. Finding broken wires and getting them back in the right place can take some time.
If you look long enough with high power magnifying head gear your bound to find where they go.

The machine with the yellow light is a 1088, identical to the 1090 for most part.
Apparently the machine was setting for years and is in like new condition.
As it wasn’t working when I got it, had a short at the door jamb.
Kept blowing fuses.

Is it possible to get the candle light working without the bell ringing?

If you want the light on all the time, the change service button will do the trick.
Or disconnect the bell.
On the 1090 machine I have. I wired the bell to the service button.
That way I cane ring the bell if someone hits a cherry for a little excitement.
In most cases I would leave it original, unless the bell is annoying.

A note of caution when it comes to cleaning the glass. Be very careful, I have had images go down the drain with just plain water.
Best bet always test in a small area. Its always nice to get 30 years of nicotine off a piece of glass. Makes it 50% brighter.
Also on the chrome never use a scratch pad or anything like it with any type of cleaner.

I made that mistake one time.   Took a while to get it back to where it was not noticeable.

Again always test on the side. I've used chrome cleaner and or Brasso. Then some wax.

Thanks for the tip. I use Windex, use my fingers to lift dirt then a light wipe with soft cotton towel. The trick is to use fingers first, that way your towel never contacts dry dirt that is abrasive. And like you said, test first.

The black yellow is the door button. Blue is common back to the transformer.
Red is tied to the jackpot bell and jackpot light.

Best to make sure they are working first. Then go from there.

Sometimes there is a relay switch to control bell and light.

Looks like the circuit for the bell/light goes through the reel sweep arms, reel "A2"  & " C2" switches & payout relay. I didn't think it was that complicated.

Found cut wire.
There's  a switch on the payout relay that switches yellow 30 from Orange 70 to green/white 95 when energized. It leads to the upper cab where it has been cut.
Any idea where it should attatch?

Doug,

Same thing in the 1088 I have. Schematic shows the 45 wire going into reel #1 which it does on this machine.
Easy to spot on the wiper board. Hook your meter to it, set up 3 bars and it should come out on the solid red 10 wire.
This wire is located in approximately the same area, but on the 3rd reel wiper board. In theory 3 bars should ring the bell and light the light.
I haven't trace it from the payout relay to the 1st reel wiper board to see if it makes it that far.
Thinking this cut wire could be a bypass and if it were hooked into the red the bell and light would active with every win.
I know my bell doesn't work on 3 bars, but not sure of the light. If the light does work it would lead me to believe the bell contacts may be dirty due to lack of use. Will be doing some testing maybe next week.
Let me know what you find out.

Thanks Dave

Bell and light works on 777 only. I think you're right about the bypass because I got continuity from the reel to cut wire on every other payout.

Thanks for tracing that out.
Hope to have time next week to hook up that cut wire.
I don’t mind the bell on payouts, I don’t think? Will see

It is very loud, like a school bell. I'm sure you can muffle it or change the tone. How about a coconut shell? Have fun!

Doug,

Did a simple clean connection for the bell.
Just tinted the 45 wire and pushed in next to the red.
Bell works good, not very loud with the door closed.
Top light is nice and bright.

Also have an older machine that didn't come with a bell. So most likely will wire one in.

Thanks for your help.
