Bally Continental 847 Payout problem on 6th coin payouts only.
« on: September 17, 2019, 12:42:55 PM »
I have a Bally 847 in for a service call. I have most issues resolved, except that when 6 coins are played, and I hit a winning combination, it pays as if only one coins been played.. I have one loose taped off wire left to fix. I had to replace a broken coil and reattach the red/white wire back to the coil. But now I’m trying to figure out where the black wire that’s taped off goes. Does anyone have or own a 847 that they can take a few pics of there top feature units wiring?

The yellow coil in my pics, is the one I have to replace because it was broken at the plastic base.

What about the coil that is missing the wire? Is that #6?
Also the orange wire on the other side of the same coil has a lot of solder on it.
In the past I’ve removed solder looking for traces of another wire.
Which could give an indication of an additional wire, but possibly some didn’t take the time to do a clean job and just left part of the original wire.

Don’t have a continental machine to photograph for you.[/size]So the coin 6 pays like coin 1? Sounds like the multiplier might not be working.Or somehow the machine is resetting early back to coin 1.

That yellow coil was replaced. The corner where the orange wire connects was snapped off. It wasn’t paying at all till I replaced that coil. The red/white wire was attached to the other side of the coil. I have one wire on that relays contacts that is not attached, but I can’t see where it was connected before? The black wire that’s taped off even has a plastic insulator on it.. That’s why I was hoping someone had another 847 that could take a pic for me. There is a wiring schematic on Jon’s FB Page, but I can’t make heads or tails of it when I looked at it. I’m thinking that black wire could be my problem.

Hopefully someone will have a photo.
There is a lot of repetition in these machines when it comes to wiring.
The machine you have or another 5 / 6 coin machine probably has the same setup.

I’ve seen other people asking about the 847 before. I was just hoping someone would chime in.

The tag only reads 847. It’s not the original metal tag, but a self stick replica. This machine was either built into a 847, or transferred from another cabinet.

I have most of the problems fixed, except a new one strange up while test playing the machine. I hit 4 plums on a 6 coin play, and didn’t get paid at all? Up till this, all my payout were spot on.. 3 plums on a 6 coin play paid correct. I think this was my first time I matched all 4 reel symbols. I played it some more and it paid on the next win?? It has been paying in both directions too, L to R, and R to L.. Just when you think you finished with one, it says “wait a minute.. Not YET”!!!

the back side of the glasses usually have G- numbers on them, and the metal index reels next to each symbol reel have 484-x stamped into them.  Those numbers can help determine what the model is.

however, the differences between models tends to be the payout percentages, coin denomination, jackpot, replay/credit register,  or just glass artwork changes, so most of the schematic is the same.

generally payout issues are poor wiper->rivet/trace contact on the reels, payout counter, odd units or cruddy jones plugs.  It's a bit of a hassle debugging with jumpers or voltmeters unless you have extension cables to allow connecting the reel or hopper unit to the game from outside the cabinet.

I can't attach a schematic here as the file size limit is too small.  I stuck the base model schem at http://bingo.cdyn.com/slots/

Hey Amechanic
I had a Nugget Continental once, model 804, and I have a clear photo of the feature unit.  I cropped it and will post here.  I think I have your email and will also email you the full photo.
If this doesnt work I have another contintental in my shop.  Ill take all the pics you want of that one.  Just not sure if it is an 847.
Stay tuned my friend.
