Invalid Safe Storage Heap Block Error - STILL

Now receiving the error on two machines on start-up.  Turned key as instructed, same issue.

Cleared the NVRAM - same error.

Any help would be appreciated.  Two machines down.

It sounds like your clearing is not completing.
If your toggle switch is flakey it can cause an error while clearing and give you that error once you reboot.


Load your Diagnostic and go to the Non Volatile storage option and look in the bottom left corner and see if it says "Jumper Inserted" in blue and watch it and see if it flashes to "Jumper Not Inserted" in red.  If it is, that's part of your problem.  Toggle the switch on the front of the brainbox a few times and make sure when you select the cabinet memory and safe storage wipe functions and hit wipe at the bottom you watch the process say it completed successfully.

Or....     It is also possible your write enable jumper is getting bumped or shorting to the inserted or on position when in game. That'll do it also. Either way, load the diag and see what it says in the bottom left.

"Jumper Inserted" is in blue letters.  It says error occurred during clearing a component.

Also have you made sure the Main door (door M) and logic door (door C) both show open?

Now I'm getting, "No IGT Signature Found" on the top screen.

Ok, not clearing properly and now no signature found. It would appear you have one of the following issues.
*Dead or low battery on controller card
*Corrosion on the controller card- not making good connection
*Bad controller card
*Corrupt boot chip on controller card
*Bent pin on backplane or controller card
*Bad ribbon cable (i.e, broken wire or bare wire shorting)
I would inspect the ribbon, headers and pins first especially if it is an SAVP/SMLD... lots of sharp edges. Smallest fray in the ribbon can cause major issues.

You did confirm the doors are reporting as open correct? Those are controlled by the controller card also. If they cycle all open/all close it typically indicates a short. But for sure Logic and Main doors need to be open throughout the clearing process.


If you have another working machine to test each of these components in that would be ideal but visual inspection goes a long ways. In the event it is a bad card, ribbon etc. many vendors and members on here along with myself have these parts available pretty cheap.
