Finally got the printing back for the New Glass and Reel Strips.
Awhile back I wired the blank spots on the reels to the cherries payout.
Then designed Reel Strips with horse shoes and top glass to match. A LOT OF WORK, but a good learning experience.
Just need to move the light dividers behind the glass and add some lights to the top and bottom lines.
Play 1 to 3 and the ALL PAYS ON CENTER LINE.

Made a new reel glass today, as it took all day.

Thank you Gary,
I did everything but the printing. Set up the art work in CorelDraw 6. It was quite bit of work, mostly it was the re-learning of CorelDraw. The Reel Strips were a little tricky. Everything was printed in reverse on clear vinyl sign material. The top glass has two layers, first the art work then a translucent white vinyl.
The reels strips same process, art work backed up with opaque white. This was applied to .07 mil clear polyester.
The only issue was the print quality. Some of the lines were only a 20 thousands in width.
So if I ever do this again I will fined a higher quality printer and make the outlines wider.
Only thing now is to get some light sockets for the top and bottom lines.

What type of printer did you use to print on vinyl? Did you have to use a coated vinyl? Was the printer a high end inkjet or large format printerl? Is the ink a special ink for vinyl printing? Thank You Tim

Not sure of the manufacturer of the printer, but it prints upto 48 inches wide. Don't think it's a real high resolution printer. I had the printing done by a friend who is also in the sign business. As for the ink and vinyl I will find out the specifications and post them later. I can say the ink is very transparent and the vinyl white backing is needed to show the color.
Like I said, I would try to find a better / higher resolution printer if I need to do anymore printing.
Also the colors were CMYK not RBG. CMYK may not look as good as RBG on the computer screen, but it makes a big difference when printing color transparency.

It may be awhile before I get all the specifications on the printer, inks and vinyl. Will post when I do.

I don't know about genius, but I really enjoy working on the old Bally EM machines
Picked up an 922-zq machine, but its been Summitfied. Thinking of converting it back to a EM.
Would need to get a Reel mechanism and a Hopper to match and a lot of spare time. Going to see if I can get it running first as I got it to salvage parts, but hate to ruin a good machine.

Today I'm realigning the wooden light dividers and possibly adding a row of flasher lights to the top and bottom so the play 1-3 coins and the All pays on center line will be lit up.

Also checked out you game room photos, looks really nice. If I ever make another Casino Sign I'll let you know. I'm trying to figure out how to cut cost. I think it would look good in your room. The chrome on the machines picks up all the colors.

Thank you so much for even considering making a sign for me. You must be in a target rich environment for old EM's. The North East is devoid of machines. You are patient and have an eye for detail that it amazing. Keep up the great work. If this was face book I would give you and your projects one of the thumbs up likes.

About every couple of months a machine pops up on Craigslist.
Been luck so far, averaging around $150.00
Got a alert set on Craigslist at 300.

Hello Jim,

CorelDraw is up to version 8. Great program once you've learned the basics. I think I spent more time learning and drawing than anything else on this project. I noticed you have a 922-zq. I picked one up for parts as its been Summitfied. If I can't get it going I may try to convert it back to EM. If I do, I might need some advice from you.

Hey Dave,

Just let me know if you do need anything. I have a 922F. I looked up the ZQ, it was made for "4 Queens". The F and the ZQ have the same tapes, contact plate wiring, payout counter and index reels.

I used Corel Draw probably 20 years ago. It was tops back then.

The machine cleaned up pretty nice.
Swapped out the handle for a nicer one and replaced the clock as the fan shaft was broke off.
Still have a couple of things to do. It needs a coin tray and I need to clean the candle.

I must say again that those reel strips and the glass came out wonderfully. You could make a good side living customizing strips and glass. Perhaps someone would have their dog, car, or wife as the jackpot symbol. What a novelty! I might get permission got own another game or two if I feed the wifes ego and make her picture the jackpot. Not suggesting in any way that I am not the luckiest man in the world already to have her in my life. (She reads the forum on occasion)

Old eyes and looking quickly made me miss the video. I went back and I love it! The machine sounds proper if you know what I mean. After playing with theses games for over a decade you get an ear for if your reel spring is strong or tired. You can here the indexing arms engage affirmatively. Even the stepper in the head, you can tell if it is advancing properly. I also like the 55 lights up top. I got a special feeling of pride when one of your hits was horse shoes. Thank you so much for sharing with your NLG family. I will stay tuned for your next project.

Re: my last topic. I mislabeled the topic and the video.
Should of been 742-A instead of 809 and 922.
It took about a month the get the printing done and in the meantime I was working on 809 and 922.
If anyone would like the details of the complete process, I wouldn't mind sharing them at all.
