s2000 Gen2 Printer not working
« on: December 03, 2018, 01:50:47 PM »
Need some help if possible on this one.

I have a Gen2 printer installed in an IGT S2000.

Problem:
It will not print and the red fault light is on when powered up.

Troubleshooting I’ve done so far:

Firmware: Theoretically, it has the correct firmware (noted from stickers on the unit) but not confirmed by holding the print button on startup because nothing happens when I do that.

Dip switches are in the correct position from my understanding according to the service manual (off, on, off, off, off, off).

Below is an image attached to show the harness connection to the NETPLEX board.

There are three connectors on one end of the harness. Only one of the connectors is hooked up (large 8 pin one). It’s connected the netplex port. What I think is a power connection is not hooked up to a power port.

I read in another post / tutorial about the Gen1 installation which indicated you need a female to female adapter for netplex and power.

Questions:
Do I need to source another female to female adapter for the power?
Or should the large 8 pin be all I need connected.?
If so, where can I get one?

I also tried a different harness (I have three of these printers) and it did not fix the problem.

If anyone can help me figure this out it would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

Connections are correct. B&C not used. Dips also correct. Is it enabled in the key chip menu?
Quality doesn't cost. It pays.

1. Are you sure it is a netplex printer ?
2. Is in pushed all the way in and fully seated ?
3. Is it loaded with paper ?
4. Is it enabled ?

RB/Dailey
Thank you for the replies. My answers below.

RB
Thanks for confirming the connections and B/C not needed.

Is it enabled in the key chip menu?
Ah, that I’m not sure of. I will check once I get back home and report back.

Dailey
1. Are you sure it is a netplex printer ?
It was installed in the machine when I got it. And they gave me two other printers just like it. It’s a futureLogic Gen2 (Purple)

2. Is in pushed all the way in and fully seated ?
Yes sir.

3. Is it loaded with paper ?
It is loaded with paper.

4. Is it enabled ?
See my reply to RB

Do you know whether the printer has ever worked in this machine before ?

The FutureLogic Gen-2 comes in several versions. Netplex, RS-232 and Universal. Check the part number. The Netplex version is part number PSA-66-STN2.

It is a PSA-66-STN2. All three I have are that model.

However, I turned the machine on to check to see if it’s enabled and now the MPU has no lights and the VFD Display and  6-6-3 displays are off.

Bill validator spins up, fan turns on, and lights turn on (reels, buttons, top, belly, etc.).

The machine has been acting up a lot…working, then not working. If by some chance the VFD comes back, I’ll check to see if the printer is enabled. In the meantime, I ordered another MPU that will be here Wednesday.

I got this machine dirt cheap at a garage sale, so I didn’t expect much, but once it’s working consistently it’ll be worth it.

Thanks again.

Update:
MPU arrived early. Installed. Cleared regular error messages. Printer works. Printed a test page. Everything seems ok for the printer now?

Bill validator will not initiate or accept bills. All three lights are on.

Went into the accounting menu into version sub menu:
says PV6 bill not configured and PV8 printer not configured, PV9 printer 2 GNUSA5570

I think next is to re-key to configure? If so, not sure which keychip to use. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the help!

Not sure what the difference is between the legacy and flash. Here's a picture of the board.

I don't have the Key 45, but have a key 17.

That's a legacy adapter board. You need key45.  I would get an IVC00224 clear chip too.

Key 17 will not work, it is for 50x board and 3092 board.

Got Key45 and clear 224 from RB. Ran those and everything works now with the new 1270 board.

THANK YOU EVERYONE!
And special thanks to RB!
