Bally E2200 All Jackpots lamp SOLVED
« on: March 27, 2019, 06:00:31 AM »
The left hand side of the reel glass says "All Jackpots Paid by Machine". The flourescent tube will not light. I've switched the entire assembly to the right side, and it works fine. I did notice only 3 wires on the plug for the right light, but there are 4 on the non-working left. So I thought that maybe this lamp only lights when you hit a jackpot, but that's not the case. Any ideas? Thanks,

Pat

Can you post a pic of the back of the door and the light. Sounds like a bad ballast or starter.

There is  4 prong plug connected to the light. The wires go into a harness, and I have not been able to trace where they go. I swapped all the starters, and it still didn't work. Can I assume the ballasts for this unit resemble transformers? If so, I'll trace the wires and swap ballasts. The light in question is to the right of the reel glass in this picture, and does not have a starter nor ballast near it.

Nut:

I would check at the socket with a voltmeter for 6 volts.   If you have voltage then many times the center contact in those sockets get pushed in and don't make good contact.   Also check the moles plug in the door that all of the wires come through.   Those terminals corrode and otherwise fail to make a good connection from time to time.  I hope that this is helpful.

The door has 4 florescent bulbs. Two in the belly glass I believe. The reel glass bulb and the two small ones on each end of the reel glass. I have circled the 4 starters. The two on each edge of the door should be belly glass. The one above the coin mech has its own starter. The you have the one in the middle of the door. That should be your jackpot bulbs starter and ballast. They do not alway put them right next to the bulb. Sometime the reel glass starter and ballast can be found inside the cabinet to the left of the reels. If All of your bulbs light except the JP one, turn off the game and remove every starter. Then turn the game on and put be starter at a time back in. Doing it with the power in is safe, this will give you an idea of what starter lights what bulb. You have one of three possible problems. Bad starter, bad ballast or bad bulb, or any combination of the 3.

I did not notice that ALL of the lights on the door are florescent .   Most of what I said was pure jiberish in this case.  Listen to the real fixers and ignore any of my future posts as they are the rants of an unskilled lunatic.   I had a loooong day.

SOLVED! The ballast on the lower left side of the door is the one for the lamp on the upper right. One one the wires was broken inside of the insulation. Repaired it, and the lamp now works. Thanks all.
