S2000 - System Error - Game EPROM CRC Error -0xF001
« on: September 11, 2014, 05:13:30 AM »
I'm trying to setup a vision game with ATA65 and SG285 -  when I put the 285 chips in the game gets stuck in a loop with the error Game EPROM CRC Error -0xF001.

I've tried several sets of 285 chips from different backups with the same error.

The only reason for me trying the 285 game instead of the 85 game is to use a 6-6-3 led display.   If anyone knows if the 285 will work with a 6-6-3 I'll keep trying to figure out what's wrong -

Not going to be easy to figure out if you have bad backups or such

You have to interleave the 2 files correctly into a new file

You must know IGT's CRC routine and how to have HxD run it on the interleaved file.

If the 2 byte checksum at the end of file matches HxD calculated custom CRC then the files are good.

Most of my Visions have 248 or 380's. Don't know if they do 6-6-3
Thank Ya Thank Ya Very Much.

Would you be so kind and give me the checksum of your 248 chips -

I need to know I have valid working chips.

Thanks

248 does NOT support 6-6-3, 380 supports both.  However, 380 does not work with Wild Cherry Pie so it can not be used with that game.
If it ain't broke don't mess with it.....

Good news   -   I finally got a working set of 248 chips -

fixed my problems with the correct version chip

and I now have the game up and running with SG248 and ATA100065

And my 7 segment display WORKS!! <happy dance>

The only thing I'm pissed about is that SG085 would alternate reel sounds and have a reel stop sound
SG248 plays the same sound and reel stop is either solenoid or nothing.
