S2000 - I/O 802 harness connection
« on: October 12, 2014, 01:46:10 PM »
Hello,

I am trying to convert my 3 reel to a 5 reel / 9-line (Triple Red Hot 7)

I finished installing my 15 buttons panel and I have a doubt about the cable connections on the I/O 802 cards.

I have used this post and this message from brianfink to make the connection.

Does it make you seem correct ?

Thank you !

I don't think it matters, they are all on the same bus.  On both my S2000's the connections are not consistent.  On one I have the outer I/O card connected to the black connector on the display.  On the other one, the inner card is connected to the black connector of the display, both units work.  Maybe someone else has a different layout, but I had never really paid attention to their interconnects. I think the only combination that does not work is connecting the molex that comes out of the outer I/O card into it's own I/O card. In your case you have that molex going into the white molex on the display card.

For the record one of my S2K's has the connections made the way you have them.

The way I did when assembling a 5 reel for a friend and converting mine to five reel.
Machine harness to 9 line or multi-line display
Pigtail harness from display to top connector on the additional I/O
Harness from bottom of additional I/O card to other I/O card
The I/O card that is at an angle has to be last in the chain.

Thank you for your answers.  :thank_you:

I did some tests and it still does not work. I think there is one I/O card 802 is not working.  :Scratch-Head:

If I turn on the machine with the same connection to my first photo, I have 10 buttons line / bet that light

If I reverse the connector on the bottom blue arrow with the connector on the bottom green arrow, only CHANGE - CASH OUT - MAX BET and SPIN  buttons are light.

Anyway I have another problem because I do not have the good 7 segment 5-5-2 display, and it is disconnected. Besides, is there an adapter ?  :duh:

It will be a long way to convert this machine ....

Yes, there is a connector for the 6-6-3 (which you are holding in the pic) to a 5-5-2 (which you have installed in the machine. I make my own.

What I/O # do you have in the inner door? The one that's a pain to take out..

Hello,

The two cards are I/O 802.
One have 2 amber light (in the inner door, behind the belly glass), the other one only 1 amber light.

The 9 lines display never turned on. By cons, the green LED lights.

I also have a I/O 801 that worked with my 5 button panel.

It's the same wiring ???? If yes it's a good news  :cool_thumb_up:

The wires on your 5-5-2 deck are colored the same (maybe a slightly different shade of the same color) so if you feel like simply cutting and splicing you can. The 5-5-2 to 6-6-3 connectors are like gold IF they pop up for sale.

And I was reading your post from my phone before and didn't scroll to the top to see that you had said 2 802 I/O's were in the machine.. While doing game swaps about a year ago I was waiting on decks and I/O's and would use a dual row deck running a single line game like RW&B, I would get the exact buttons lit as you said, Max, CashOut, Spin, Service..

That's work !!! That's work !!!

I was in bed ... I had a flash ... and I went back to the machine. I'll explain tomorrow but I'll wait for my wife to do a proper translation.

I'll look for the wiring connector, thank you !

Hello,

So like I said, I was in bed and I had a flash !  :idea_2:

In my first post, I said that I had only a section of the 15 buttons panel that lit up. Either the section with 10 buttons (lines selection and bet per line), either section with CHANGE - CASH OUT - SPIN - MAX BET. I was able to see these changes when I was exchanging the cards and / or connectors.

I had deduced that one of the two I/O 802 cards was not working. I also did some tests with my old I/O 801 card which drove my 5 panel buttons. By cons I did not notice and did not know where I was putting the 801 and if the remaining 802 was the one that worked.

And suddenly I said to myself that I/O 802 that did not work was that with a single orange light on, and the 5 buttons section (CHANGE - CASH OUT. ... ) could be driven by my I/O 801 card.

I put the I/O 801 card exterior side of the door (behind the Belly Glass)

and I/O 802 card inner side of the door.

I turn on the machine and then: already a first change: the 9 lines display lights up!!! And a few seconds after, the machine has started and is functional!!!

Then for the last action, I only have to make the connector for the 7-segment display.
