G23 topper/glitter bar/speaker LED question

Hi all,

I just received my new G23 and I’m starting to dig in!  Love the machine, but I’m curious about the LED behavior. When I boot the device up, the polygon topper, and glitter bar cycle through various colors.  I have Game King 8.3 or 8.3r I’m assuming…the one with Roulette, and no matter what I play, the OLED buttons, speaker LED, and glitter bar always remain blue.  The topper however will change patterns and colors depending on the game. 

Should the other components change colors too, or are they always supposed to remain blue?

It is all controlled by the game.  You will find that the slot games (particularly the newer ones) will make more use of the led eye candy.  Gameking stuff doesn't really do much.

Thanks Rick.  I have a bunch of games loaded into the Game King interface.  Should a game like Triple Red Hot 7s Free Spins change the glitter bar or LED ring around the speaker?  What would be a few games that should light everything up or change colors?

Yes triple red hot 7s free games should get them all changing colors.  Buttons flashing all different colors too. Looks great!

I appreciate the response.  The only time I see a change on that game is when the two bonus reels come up on reels 1 and 2 during the flames.  The topper ring goes multi colored, but the glitter bar, buttons, and speaker LED all remain blue.

Could this be OS/game version related?  Or something not plugged in right somewhere?

I have noticed that when using the gameking 8.3r as a base.  Seems like for whatever reason it inhibits the leds on the cabinet, but not on the topper.  I bet if you just used a bare drive and installed OS and then just slot games and poker games individually, you would get the full light show.

That’s good to know, Rick.  At the end of the day, all I’m trying to figure out is if I have any faulty hardware or if something’s not connected up properly.

Ditch the game king base software, it uses up way too much NV ram anyway.

Agreed. Too many single hand five card draw games. Really don't play Keno either. The roulette is underwhelming IMO. I can do without it. I do like the GK main menu. I use the GK OS and MM without the package and put on the games I want instead of the pre configured crap that wastes over 50% of the NVRAM.

Do you have the menu setting set to allow the game to control the colors?  My GK with r changes colors for all game and normally matches the glitter bar.  If I don't let the game control colors it will just stay default blue unless I set a color to something else.

If I leave a default color it seems to glitch sometimes and the games don't change the colors.  So what I do is set a custom color then change the setting "let game change colors".

Open bottom of the cabinet.

Press the white button on the Brain Box.

Setup
Machine
Cabinet Lighting.

Change the default color to a custom color.
Then change the setting "let game change color" to YES.

With this setting set any game that remains blue is just a game that doesn't have color control.

NOTE: When the machine starts, it may take a few game loads for the colors to start updating.

This is amazing!!!  I would encourage everyone who owns these machines to play around in here!  One of the biggest disappointments initially, was that there wasn’t an attract mode available.  There are so many settings in here to change, it will blow your mind!  I had no idea the Game King top screen graphics were customizable either!  Advertisements, game banners, you name it, it’s there. 

This is a huge find!
