The sticker on the glass saying "Canadian Currency Only" is probably from its days in a casino in Canada. Since the bill acceptor's labeling appears to be for US bills maybe someone removed the old Canadian bill acceptor and added that one for use with US money. You can see if the slot on the front of the bill acceptor is just barely wide enough for a US bill, if so then it is for US currency. Canadian bills are a different width than US bills. They are 71mm wide, the US bills are 67mm wide.

If you want to use coins to play the machine but don't want to tie up a lot of quarters you should be able to remove the sample quarter from the coin comparitor and replace it with a quarter sized metal game token. Lots of places sell these, even here on NLG. You can get a few hundred of them and not worry about the hopper running low or having to keep opening the machine to get coins back out to play. Just an idea...

Thanks gpsman. I have some of those tokens from an earlier "skill stop" machine. But in the event of a "hand pay", I'm still not sure of how to open, "hand pay", and then reset the machine?  :Scratch-Head:

Hand pay is a simple turn of the J/P key. You will hear meter counting the pay

Depending on your machine SP Game chip, there's a credit limit, and a hopper limit.  I'm assuming you set the hopper limit to 400 since you say you can pass the 400 credit mark.
On some SP Game chips, the credit limit will equal the hopper limit, in this case any pay that will take the machine over the hopper/credit limit will be paid out by the hopper.  For example.  Say your hopper/credit limit is set to 400.  You have 390 credits on your machine after the wager.  You spin, and win 30 credits.  All 30 credits will be paid out by the hopper.  You spin, and win 10 credits, all 10 will be paid by hopper.  You spin, and win 9 credits, they will be added to your credits.  You spin and win the top award, you will go into hand-pay.

On the SP game chips that can have a different hopper limit and credit limit, things are slightly different.  Say your credit limit is 1000, but your hopper limit is 400.
You have 390 credits after the wager.  You spin and win 30 credits, they will be added to your credits.  You hit cash out, your credits read 420, you will go to hand-pay.  You spin and hit top award, you go to hand pay.  You hit a win of 800 coins, you will go to handpay (since the 800 will take you over the credit limit AND the pay is higher than your hopper limit).  You have 990 credits, you spin and hit 30 credits. The 30 credits will be paid out of hopper.

I hope that is clear enough to understand.

Thanks. I think I've got it now. I did get it to reset by using the J/P key. Thanks again to all. You know...I think the best thing about having a slot is that it teaches you not to play slots!  This one actually does hit win pretty regular, enough to keep you playing, but overall you slowly lose! Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving holiday.

Right!  That's why governments used to make gambling illegal. It was never an honest bet. (honest bet would be win or lose with equal chance). Some people still think betting on a number in roulette is still 50/50. (that is you will either win or lose so it must be 50/50!) It's an old saying but still true...those casinos in LA weren't built by all the winners! Now we just tell ourselves "we're just having fun". And you know what?....I think almost everyone is a winner at some point (that is they are ahead of what they have gambled). But almost all will stop when they are at a loss. Why don't they stop when they are ahead? I guess because we're human?  Oh,well. enough of the philosophy stuff, I get my kicks out of fixing stuff.
