open door error
« on: November 12, 2014, 10:37:34 AM »
IGT s-plus I changed the batterry on the main board and now I can't get rid of the door open error. The lower candle light flashes 2 times a second and the upper candle light is off. I shorted the door optic sensor output but this doesn't change anything. I used a meter to verify that the door optic sensor has continuity to the P!-14B connector on the main board. Do I need to use a clear chip?

Check your door optic emitter with a CCD based digital camera to see if the light is "blinking".  Do the reels do anything when you do an open door/close door cycle?

your machine has a built in diagnostic test that will test  every feature that your machine needs in order to run.

get into the test mode, go to the input test 13, close and latch the door, and see what the display is doing

if it is flashing a 1 then a 0 then the door optics are good.

I hope you didn't damage the optic circuit by shorting the wires together!

on the door led, you should measure +5vdc,  on the cabinet optic you should measure 8/10 vdc.
Hope this helps
Jim

In the self test mode group1 test 13 the optics are working because the result is pulsing 1-0-1-0 etc.
The machine is a "HAYWIRE"  Model B5036CFIW with SP873 and SS4072. The candle lower light flashes 2 times per second and the top light is off.
I reset the RAM but that made no change in bottom candle light.
I am thinking that maybe I should try the drop door selection bit if I can get to it in the self test procedure.
The original problem occurred with a jackpot hit and I couldn reset the machine after that. I found that the battery was reading 0 volts, so I changed it.

What I thought was an open door error really was a tilt condition with no sample coin in the coin comparator.
Since I reset the ram, I need to setup the machine to enable credits to work.
My machine is a "Haywire" s-plus with SP873 and SS4072.
Can anyone tell me what I need to do this?
