Moving my slot, need help removing the glass
« on: January 02, 2015, 04:54:37 PM »
I have an IGT slot machine, and I will be moving across the country.  I want to remove the 3 pieces of glass because I don't think they will survive the move if still in the slot machine.  I have searched online but cannot find a guide to removing all the glass.

The belly glass appears to be the easiest, just drop the door and remove 4 nuts to get at it.

The award glass has what appears to be some type of blank on the bottom but I don't want to pull too hard and damage the glass, I don't think I can replace it if I do.

Can anyone help me with a guide on how to get the glass out?

Pry off the black plate below the glass.A small screwdrver inserted at the bottom right side should pop it loose. Then slide the glass up and out at the bottom.

Is that plate held in with clips or something?  How much pressure do I need to use.  I will probably use my plastic trim removal kit rather than a sharp edge like a screwdriver.

The award glass at the top is sitting on top of a bracket that the black Formica is attached to. Below the bracket and on the grayish metal is two half circle cut outs. When you pull on the bottom of the black bracket it should come out but make sure you don't drop that glass. Kind of grab the interior / exterior of the glass with your thumb and fingers. Like you mention ... most likely you will not find that glass anywhere else.

The center reel glass is a common piece so don't worry about removing it. It will be just fine.

Make sure there are no coins anywhere in the machine .. Sample coin in the comparitor is okay.

For the top glass, about 3" in from each side is a small indent. A finger on each one raise up and pull forwards and remove all at once. If you're not comfortable with the awards glass. It's inset and a good cover with bubble wrap and then stretch wrap will probably keep it plenty safe. Good luck!

Well, that was easy.  As soon as I put my thumbs in those cut outs, the glass lifted straight up and I tilted it out.

Thanks guys!

Personally, I would wrap it good with bubble wrap then stretch wrap and build a plywood box around it. Loose glass is more dangerous I think. I agree you would probably never replace that glass.
Thank Ya Thank Ya Very Much.

:I_agree_1: bet  as much if not more gets broke outside of machines when  moving  it , we get 100 to 114 slots on trailer they are never wrapped  and might have had 1 glass break in those loads  most was broke before they shipped it , can tell by tape on it
