Bally E2000 Test switch not advancing past 1
« on: February 22, 2024, 03:28:25 PM »
I have a bally e2243 that has a reset/test problem. In game ready mode the display reads
50 .0.0 0  If I press reset I get 50 .0.0 6. and the coin diverter relaxes
When I press test, the display reads 50 .0.0 1 and when I release the test button to advance to 2 or more it does the hard reset and pulls the coin diverter back.

The machine plays in game ready mode...accepts coins, reels spin and stop and will continue to play until the machine tilts. When it tilts and I press the reset it displays the same 50 .0.0 6 as it does in game ready. There is no action on the test button when it tilts. The only way I found to clear the tilts is to remove the two 5101 chips and replace. When I do this the machine is once again in game ready mode and plays.

I swapped out the hopper control board with one from a working machine and all the results mentioned above did not change with that board either. I believe my problem is on the mpu board but I do not have a schematic to trace anything down.

I did a ram clear in game ready mode and it counted up and worked but did not change any problem listed. My battery voltage is at 1.5 as well.

Does anyone have any idea where to look or try.

Thanks in advance.

I found the problem. The switch under the door lock cam was shorted to ground. I can now advance the test button forward and access tests 2 thru 8. I have a different problem I will start a new post for that.

Yay
