Before we get too deep into the optics can we back up?
In reply 14 you said when you bypassed and simulated the optics close with a momentary switch the machine did not count the credits? :Scratch-Head:
If that's correct and you bypassed the optics correctly then the problem is not with the optics. It would have to be with the wiring or the MPU.
If you did get the machine to count down credit with the push button bypass then YES the optics would be the problem as they were not seeing the coins pass by.

My question also.
Let them that don't want any, have memories of not getting any.

This is correct, I can do the test again, or should we try the output test or just the hopper test?  Now when I did that by-pass test, I didn't put any power to the hopper, just the 2 wires you told me too..and I put the N.C. Sw. on the one that wasn't a ground..Im thinking it was #9 top right..Did I do that right?..

Oops, it was # 8 that I put the switch on, but after reading the instructions again I might have screwed up. :fryingpan: I think I was suppose to put it between 8 and 9..Dah! :nerd:..i made jumpers from# 9 from machine to hopper and # 8  and put the sw in between this . Even after reading this, something doesn't seem right ..shouldn't I only be pulsing 1 leg?

One leg of the normally closed switch goes to terminal 8.

The other leg of the normally closed switch goes to terminal 9.

The hopper is removed and put in the closet for this test.

There should be only 2 wires coming from the hopper plug and they both go to the switch.

Then set the game for hopper output test and start tapping the push button.

To prevent coins from shorting out the power wires.

Your test indicates there is something wrong from the hopper plug to the MPU board.

Look behind the hopper connector and make sure one of the wires has not fallen off.

Buzz mentioned in a previous post that the chips he sent me weren't tested on a machine, but he has some kind of other way to test or they read ok? but now that I think about it, I did the hopper test with the old game chip too and it ran wild also..what started this post is the cash/credit button threw some weird unknown code 32 limp mode..should I try to run the regular hopper test?  or just play it and unplug that cash/credit button..lol

Run the regular hopper test with just the pushbutton connected and tap the button when the test starts.

Otherwise disconnect the cash out button and leave terminals 8 and 9 tied together (with the pushbutton or a jumper).

Put the hopper back in the closet.
