I purchased my 1st slot machine  at an auction.  An IGT S+ double RWB. The auctioneer showed it working  by turning the reset key and making the reels spin.  Come to find out it was working in a test mode.

My Machine was apparently a tournament machine.  It has an SP 830 and ST 00020 for the game and reel proms.
Before I found this forum, I got myself a SET 15 chip and a Clear chip - and used both --
anyway my machine has NO Way to add credits. It DOES NOT have a coin mech, a hopper. or a DBV at all.
I believe this machine was only used as a tournament machine.  I am going to call this my 1st problem as I'm sure I will have many more.

my current issue: I turn the  Machine on, the lights come on and I get an Error 21 in the winner paid window.  Candle on top: top light blinking slow, bottom fast

Any and all help will be appreciated thank you :)

Honestly I would post pictures of the inside of the machine.  Inside the door and inside the cabinet so we can see what is all missing. I will let others add what chips to get to replace yours if you want the machine to go back to coin in/coin out. Also take pictures of where the bill acceptor used to be so we can see if all wires are there.

Let's see here. I should know this by now.
First - the switch over is dependent on some things.
Denomination -  Is it nickles, quarters, etc?
How many paylines are on your machine? (Post a PICTURE of the front)
You will need to replace the SP and ST chip. The ST chip will be replaced with an SS chip and the SP chip will be replaced with a non-tournament version.
Look here for the version you will need: http://www.newlifegames.net/igtbible/IGT%205%20Line/Game%20Library%20-%20S-Plus%20-%20Red,%20White%20&%20Blue%20%285%20Line%29.htm

You'll need:
Coin head
Coin comparitor (and harness)
Hopper
Chute (post picture of the inside of your door... you may have one)
If you want it to take bills:
DBV - Probably JCM DBV-200? There may be a better new one...someone will chime in if there is.
Rack and Cash Can.
Power supply for DBV
Wiring for power supply

If anyone else sees something I missed, please post.

ALL of this can be purchased from many of the great vendors listed on the front of the NLG home page. Either go to their pages, send them a PM, or POST a WTB in the classifieds here.
And, for your error code 21 - try powering on... let the error come up, then open and close the door. Make sure the latch is firmly latched. That may clear the error I think. Don't clear the machine right now. It won't do any good if you're going to change to coin-in.

I'm trying to get this to work with no coins or hopper  in tournament mode for now.

Just closing the door and making sure it is latched does not clear the error 21.

I've had this machine since August of last year and well, tried to order the parts to make it coin-in again  but got ripped off to the tune of $104.77 by one of the vendors on the front page.  (they never sent the  parts or a refund)  (part of that was my fault for ordering a S2000 hopper instead of one for an S+ but the vendor apparently blew off the attorney general of their state as well)

The error 21 has to be an optics problem. Make sure the belly door is closed tightly as well. Check for any wire breaks or disconnected plugs around both main and belly doors.

Like this one near the bottom of the cabinet.  There is nothing on the belly door to match up to this one.  There is a red w/ blue striped wire and a green w/blue striped wire cut below my reels. Do they go to this optic?

You're getting a 21 error because there aren't any coin-in optics hooked up.  You'll either need to buy and install a working set of S+ coin-in optics, or somehow bypass them in order to get past the 21 error.

i'm not going to say who it was, but it wasn't you :).   Anyway there has to be a way to get this machine set up to work on tournament play without any money. I just can't figure out how :-\.  The coin head area just has a silver plate covering it.  and no sign that there was a DBV in it at all other than a cover for that as well.

If it was working before as a tournament game, why not just set it back up that way again?
When you did the clear you wiped out all the previous settings so it will need to be set back up.
Here is the SP830, use the set 15 chip and re-program it for tournament. Looks to be your best bet until you get the proper hardware.

so to get into the self test mode to change tournament values  I need to put my set15 chip in the game prom slot instead of the SP830?  I am confused trying to figure how to get into those settings.

I did manage to use the set chip once to change the denom. to 0 instead of 25 but.  I seem to be the only one to have a machine like this with no money input method *shrug*

You don't need the SET chip to program tournament mode, that is only used to enable the validator and set the denomination, but if you don't have a validator, you can set the denomination in the regular test mode.  You just need to:

1) Enable Tournament Mode
2) Set initial credits
3) Set time limits (if desired)

There are other options such as auto-bet, the speed at which the credits roll up after a win, etc.

There are 3 time settings, Start Time Limit, Pause Time Limit, and End Time Limit.  If you just want one session with no pause and re-start, then set the Start Time Limit at the desired time, and leave the other two at 0.
