IGT Model Type
« on: May 28, 2018, 09:54:32 PM »
Hello all,
I am new here and getting started.  But first I have the big question that everyone seems to ask....What kind of IGT machine do I have. Here are some of my pics. If there are particular ones you need shot let me know. It seems to all be working with the exception of the bill taker and a few lights. I also need to figure out which of the tiny lights to buy. I guess there are a few?

I am part of other boards for my Jeep and RV and found they are very helpful and cool so hoping this is the same for slots.

Thanks. So for starters...

-The bil collector doesnt work.
-some of the tiny light bulbs are out. How do I tell which ones to buy?
-how to change settings to keep winnings on credits instead of paying out coins each time?

Lots more to learn so will start there....

Thanks.

Depending on your SP chip these settings should be similar.

http://www.newlifegames.net/spset/SPSS.htm

Your machine's settings for options and preferences, along with some diagnostic test procedures, are located in the software inside the (SP) chip.

To find out exactly what your machine's SS and SP chip numbers are just follow this easy procedure above. It uses the white TEST button located inside your machine. Or you can remove the mpu board and take a look at the chips themselves. The mpu is the main circuit board for operating the machine. The SS and SP chips are located in sockets on the mpu board. They should have labels on top of them with the SS and SP numbers. With those 2 numbers you can find out exactly what options and settings you have available, also other details of the game such as player winning percentage.

The mpu board should be located in the bottom of the machine, it is mounted to a flat metal tray, it stands vertically and usually has a round black knob or a handle to make removing easier. But on your machine it may be located differently. The mpu typically plugs into another smaller circuit board called the motherboard.

On a machine that is new to you it's always a good idea to remove the mpu and inspect it, just in case there is a leaking or bad battery, mouse nest, etc. When you remove the mpu board post a photo or two of it and we can tell you more about it.

The bulbs will have a number printed on them somewhere, you just buy bulbs with the same or equivalent number. I think the pushbutton bulbs are 6 volt wedge style, the fluorescent lamps are 120 vac, the "F" number should be written on the end of the old bulb. And there are some bulbs located on the display boards inside twist-mount bulb holders.

You can press the white TEST button to step thru the setup menu to the specific step that has the bv enable/disable setting and check it. If it is enabled and the bill validator doesn't work you can post more info and photos about it to find out what your choices are to get it working. When testing a bill validator always use a $1 bill at first. This is because the bv internal software may be out of date and not recognize any bill except a $1. So make sure the bv is working with a $1, then do further testing to see what other bills it will take. But if it won't accept a $1 it is either a bad bv, or the bv is not enabled or there is something else causing a problem with it, like a security switch problem, cash can problem, etc.

PS> Welcome to NLG
I like the color scheme on your machine, with the deep blue color
and black cabinet, black armrest.

Is a SS Chipset the same thing? It appears my chips start with an SS as per the link I reviewed for my game.

No, the SS is one chip, the SP is a different one. Your S+ mpu board has 2 important chips that affect the game and machine operation. The SS chip is also called the Reel chip, it determines the particular game and player win percentage you have in the machine. The SP chip controls the overall operation of the machine and it is the one that determines what setup options and settings you have available.

When you look at your mpu board you will see both chips next to each other and their labels should have the SP and SS numbers. Of if you follow the instructions at the link below carefully you will see 2 different numbers displayed on the front of the machine. One is the SP chip number, the other is the SS chip number.

http://newlifegames.com/nlg/index.php?topic=2251.msg11326#msg11326

Below is an example of an S+ mpu board. Notice the 2 chips with white labels, one is the SS and the other is the SP. On the board is written "REEL" and "GAME" near each chip.

Welcome to NLG.  This forum is the best resource for home owners of slot machines.

 :NLG_WELCOME:

Of note, always turn the power OFF before removing or inserting the MPU (processor) board.  Failure to do so can cause permanent damage to the board or the machine.

You can determine the SS and SP chip numbers in your machine without removing the MPU board, with the instructions found in the following FAQ that rokgpsman previously linked to:
